Maybe he does a few hangouts before he goes home 🚀
The map set up like the ones in the games.
Also I find it funny that all these various missions involve putting the Mario Bros and Yoshi into dangerous situations,
But then one of them is just them helping out a Toad who dropped his ice cream.

THOUGHTS OF A FROG

Let's analyze the new Yoshi trailer for the Super Mario Galaxy movie! While the first trailer set up the Super Mario Galaxy plot, this trailer goes in a completely different direction. We've got Birdo, the Frog Suit, an actual dinosaur...it's wild.
When the last movie left off in the post-credits scene, we saw Yoshi hatch back in Brooklyn. Seems like he wandered through the pipe system and found his way to Tostarena!
Poor guy hatched all alone, got lost in the pipe system, and maybe he's trying to make his way back home...just like another lost baby from the first movie...
Speaking of babies, there's more babies in this trailer, even if they're right at the end! So let's address the Dino Rhino in the room right now:
How did the Yoshi's Island plot start? Why are Baby Luigi and Baby Mario here? Is this time travel? Did Bower Jr. or Kamek make them babies again?
This is weird to have in Super Mario Galaxy movie, right? Especially one with Frog Suits and Tostarena and Birdo, and...well, I'm always going to be biased and say this should have been a Super Mario World/Yoshi's Island movie...
...but I can see one way that Yoshi's Island could mesh with Super Mario Galaxy. Maybe Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Rosalina, are actually four of the Star Children from Yoshi's Island DS.
These chosen ones are seven special babies born with chosen one status "extraordinary power". That sounds like a great story device to me! And what better character to tell our characters about this than Rosalina, a child of the stars?
Maybe she's the only one who grew up knowing she's a Star Child, so she was able to train her powers, and that's where she gets her magic from.
If things get really crazy, maybe Bowser and son will go back in time to kidnap the Star Children just like in the game, and that's what separated Peach from her parents in the first place!
Hey, Super Mario Galaxy got pretty weird at the end. Time travel's not out of the question.
This hilarious shot from Luigi looking humiliated in his Frog Suit looks like it might take place in the roughly same jungle we saw the group of other Yoshis in the first movie. There is a Yoshi egg logo on the boat after all.
As a sidenote, don't worry Luigi, that Frog Suit is really useful for helping you take down Big Bertha from Super Mario 3! Or Boss Bass, Mega Cheep...my parents just called it "Jaws" while we spent hours in front of the kitchen TV trying to outrun that giant monster.
Back to the ending shot with the T-Rex! I feel like the forest scenes should be close together, but maybe not that close together since Yoshi got a Super Scope at some point...and Mario and Luigi are babies now...
Maybe this is the dangerous side of Dinosaur Land? It makes a ton of sense to just blend together Dinosaur Land/Yoshi's Island with the Cascade Kingdom. (Or maybe I'm just grasping at straws.)
Regardless, Yoshi meeting the realistic T-Rex is the best idea since...the realistic T-Rex! Remember when Super Mario Odyssey was revealed like this?
I'm calling it, someone's gonna end up riding that T-Rex as a Yoshi joke. Maybe Mario will come in riding Yoshi, and Boswer Jr.'s like, "oh yeah, you expect that to scare me?" and then the trees tremble and Luigi rides in on the T-Rex!
Because Mario called dibs on Yoshi, you see. Anyway.
This is definitely a casino, right? We see Koopas playing slot machines on the...every wall, so I'm guessing this is back on Bowser Jr.'s planet/ship.
Btw, this is what tells me the staff really understands the Super Mario games. The aesthetic here is pristine. This casino/circus theme started in Super Mario 2, so we have Birdo, Mouser, and Ninji.
And then the casino imagery popped up again in Super Mario 3D World, the game that repurposed the Super Mario 2's Double Cherry, a fruit notorious for slot machines, like the Bonus Chance minigame in Super Mario 2.
3D World's casino/circus imagery culminated in its final world, World Bowser, a massive theme park of circus tents and bright lights that would make Circus Circus, Las Vegas blush.
And yes, Super Mario 2 is important to the Yoshi's Island series, which brought back Shy Guys and its own slot machine minigame, with melons instead of cherries.
See, Super Mario 2 was the "weird" Super Mario game, because of its history as Doki Doki Panic. So whenever Super Mario wants to be weird, they dip back into that Super Mario 2 imagery to signal to older fans "hey, this Mario game is gonna be different! It's gonna get weird!"
And here's the Super Mario Movie sequel, using Super Mario 2 imagery to tell older fans: "hey, this Mario movie is gonna be different! It's gonna get weird!" It's perfect.
And that brings us back to what's probably the Star Festival, where Yoshi makes this cursed face. Mario and Luigi look so proud of their new dinosaur child.
Wait, is the gift in Mario's hand the Super Scope that Yoshi points at the T-Rex later?
So, we have a Yoshi's Island plot, a Super Mario 3 reference with Frog Luigi fighting Big Bertha, more Odyssey references (it was the last 3D Mario game after all) and some stellar Super Mario 2 love...
Is there enough time in this movie for Super Mario Galaxy?! Did any of the forest/jungle shots actually take place on other planets? It feels weird to have them go to another planet to meet the T-Rex.
If any of the jungle scenes take place on other planets, they don't look like it. Where are the actual Super Mario Galaxy characters from those other planets? Where are the bees? Or the Mandibugs? You can't have a Super Mario Galaxy movie without Bee Mario!
And how will they fit all of this in one movie? Well, there are two Super Mario Galaxy games. Maybe this is only the first Super Mario Galaxy movie...
The fact this image exists makes this film a nine out of ten. Yoshi and Luigi make it a ten out of ten.
