@frost-and-snow Day 3: Blades
A collab with @wifiwuxians my beloved to celebrate our favorite two daoshi on Xiao Xingchen's bday! 🤍 He did the lines, background and flowers, and final effects, and I did the swords and colors!
[id: A four-panel drawing. Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan spar with their swords amid blossoming trees with pink falling petals. Xiao Xingchen beams brightly, Shuanghua and Fuxue crossed in front of him. Song Lan smiles back. The last panel shows Song Lan, a fierce corpse, unkempt but with flowers and braids in his hair. He holds Shuanghua before him, smiling fondly in reminiscence, petals falling around him. /end id]
White Snow
A lone silent wanderer, cold as the winter itself, carrying two swords.
Wearing white now. For mourning. For the memory of his once-home, named for the brightness of snow... And to honour his soulmate and friend who once shone so bright.
Year of the Bun and start of Song Lan Week [Day 1: Winter + bunny at work]
“I’m sorry, it wasn’t your fault”
Days 6 & 7: regret and light, respectively. For the @frost-and-snow event
Don’t worry, he’s taking good care of his soulmate
"In another life, I would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you."
day 6 prompt "regret" ! | Everything Everywhere All at Once
Day 3 - Blades
Decided to make myself some food based on the most recent Red Azalea chapters 😋

For day 5 of @frost-and-snow 2023: Festival
The night market is crowded and noisy, exactly the way Song Lan hates. There's a Lunar New Year's celebration taking place late into the night, and the passersby who keep bumping into him are under the impression that he's dressed in old style hanfu for the occasion. It's times like these that make Song Lan feel safe to come out from hiding at all. He could easily do his best to blend in; cut his hair, change his clothes, join the 21st century... but it would feel like a lie. Song Lan is who he has always been, and as the centuries pass, even though it means he must hide in the shadows, he will stay true to himself.
If he still had any breath in his body, it would be stolen in an instant, when a young man bumps into him.
"Apologies," he says, grinning sheepishly, pushing his glasses further up his nose bridge before heading back out into the crowd.
He looks almost the same, reincarnation or no. Song Lan would recognize that face in any time, in any place. Unlike him, this Xingchen was born in a modern world. He is flanked by friends, laughing and passing out sparklers.
Song Lan closes his eyes and remembers festivals past. There is music in the air, the scent of street foods being cooked in neighboring stalls. He recalls his companion, gently tugging on his sleeve to get Song Lan to follow him. There are pillowed lips coated in sticky tanghulu sugar, and sour haw juice inside his mouth. Lanterns are sent up into the dark night sky, and a hand in his, softly... asking for permission.
In his memories, Song Lan grips his hand tighter, and never lets go.
