last year, i had this idea: like what if each character's design is different depending on what backstory/starting skills you choose in the intro; for example, Defense Stance D'Arce would have a powerlifter's physique while Fast Attack D'Arce would have a sprinter's physique.

so while i was watching Frapollo94's Needle Worm only run, i saw this was the flavor text for the skill,

around that same time i was reading The Troop by Nick Cutter, so i got some ideas

stick-thin limbs, severe malnutrition and weight loss (he didnt have much weight to begin with), and a painfully bloated abdomen where the worms are living

this is what inspired me to make this AU, i want to tell a story of the funger party going through the horrors but eventually recovering in ways that symbolically parallel what theyve gone through in the dungeon. D'Arce breaks her leg so then she is able to stand up and be her own person. Cahara loses his hand so then he can lend a hand to help out his family. Ragnvaldr gets a brain injury so then he learns how to take care of his mental health. Enki's body deteriorates from a parasitic infection so then he takes care of his body and carries life.

been caught in my funger au have shitty sketches. Kinda obsessed with the idea that this Binghe has a side pony tail that Shen Yuan desperately wants to tie up going on. After being transmigrated as cannon fodder Ming Fan the dynamic they end up developing is very much not Shen Yuan fanboying over Luo Binghe and using kindness to fix him and more OMG this guy is the worst. This Binghe is already black and charred and is not putting up a nice guy front. He's an asshole who was cool from a distance but now that he's here he can't stand them.

Also Luo Binghe has a problem with just letting himself get injured and just because you'll live doesn't mean risking infection. Luo Binghe hasn't actually clocked that Ming Fan has been replaced because as far as he's concerned Shen Yuan has way more in common attitude wise with Ming Fan than this bitch would ever willingly admit. Shen Qingqiu clocked it the moment he opened his mouth.

I like to imagine that within the dungeon that Shen Qingqiu has entered into a shaky alliance with Tianlang-Jun on their quest to destroy everything. Tianlang-Jun hating the new gods as he finds them revolting and full of lies. His domain as one of the oldest OLD GOD's is in fact truth. This does not mean he hates lies. Humans are interesting because they lie. It's more he can't stand a twisted thing like the New Gods. Since being tied to the dungeon he's slowly been expanding and leaking out into the domain causing the humans to corrupt. He's actually what caused Yue Qingyuan to turn into the crow mauler. It is not a matter of malice. It's simply that humans look different once they get stripped off all those lies. Having been locked to the dungeon and unable to escape he has decided that if he can't leave then he'll simply swallow the world into the dungeon. Sure he'll have to replace the human with an earlier model at some point but he can work with that

Dumb TWST AU that's got me in a chokehold: Fear and Hunger!Yuu

Specifically an Occultist F&H!Yuu. Grimdark magic from a Berserk-like setting meets bishonens at Disney Villain Hogwarts.

When I say chokehold, I mean I made a whole-ass Yuusona just for this AU:

Deceptively quiet. 'Eccentric bookworm' meets 'beware the quiet ones.' Civil, even friendly, until the other party decides not to be. Born without magic? Yes. Magicless? Oh, no.

Meet Yuria, an occultist from a modern F&H setting. What does that kind of setting look like? Dark urban fantasy with a dash of cyberpunk, perhaps? People are gonna be people, life is an accumulation of pain and misery, and the cruel and greedy are routinely undermined by both themselves and those supposedly 'beneath' them.

Don't have her backstory fully nailed down - certainly, she was drawn to magic young, practically a prodigy. She lives in modern Bohemia, close to Prehevil, one of the few places in her world that hasn't completely forgotten magic. Does she have family she's close to? Does she have any living family at all? Only Yuria knows.

She's been through the wringer a couple times over and lived to tell the tales. She's Leon S. Kennedy - deceptively cute, surprisingly skilled, and way too comfortable with horror. Very few character creators let me accurately reflect how many scars she has.

The Dark Mirror takes one look at Yuria, looks into her soul, and cracks. Not shatters, no, just visibly cracks from what it finds.

Mirror: This soul wields powers both alien and profane. Fragments of divinity, bartered for with blood and madness. There is no place in this world where this soul belongs. None. Why have you come here, Tormented soul?

Yuria: A hand was extended to me through a mirror. I was instructed to take it and not let go. Now, I am here. By nothing less than explicit invitation.

Staff and gathered students: (turn to look at a sweating Crowley)

Then Grim happens, as he does, and Yuria briefly binds him a strange chain spell.

Crewel: Is this creature with you?

Yuria: (picks up a dazed Grim like a sack of potatoes) He is now.

The staff pull Yuria aside, hoping to shed some light on the Mirror's reaction. Yuria pulls out a Skin Bible, maybe multiple Skin Bibles. By the end of her thorough explanation, Crowley regrets a fair few of his life choices and curses the mage who created NRC's enrollment system.

Yuria: So people are just... born with magic, here? And you have multiple schools just for teaching them how to control it? Like some kind of fairy tale book? How cute.

Grim hears that anyone can learn Yuria's kind of magic, and begs commands her to teach him. She acquiesces, mostly because she's curious what a Grim-sized Blood Golem and Blood Sword will look like.

Adeuce + Grim watch her summon a weapon from her own blood in Dwarfs' Mine, then casually dismember the creature guarding it. Torn between 'damn she's cool' and 'what the fuck was that oh seven oh shit oh fuck-'

After that whole thing, Crowley 'graciously' allows her and Grim to enroll properly as students. Unlike in canon, he spends a lot of time trying to find a way to send her back to whatever Hellhole she crawled out of - and laments the fact that he's found nothing. Not helping matters is that Yuria is in no hurry to leave Twisted Wonderland.
