Everyone is straight up calling her a man (sexist and butchphobic! Thought we cared abt those issues,, huh) and yet think they are in the right. im thinking abt something my instructor always mentions and that is how...it literally doesn’t matter how old you are when you start as long as you start learning proper technique from the beginning and are willing to do the hard work it takes to master it!!! she even says she finds it lovely when people who quit ballet in their teens go back to it as adults bc it’s a choice they make for themselves!!! it’s not like a parent shoved them inside a studio and paid for their classes...as adults we CHOOSE to dance and learn and improve and we’re way more aware of the work it takes to get good at it but we’re also willing to do it because we just...love it. that’s why we’re here!! 

smth else she’s said to me before that i rly treasure is the fact that if you haven’t danced in YEARS or have never done it in ur life...you’ll go to class with a clean slate. every bad habit you had as a dancer back then is practically Erased from your body by now so you have the chance to learn everything from scratch and learn it well!!!!!!!! and that’s a huge huge huge chance!!!

if you rly are considering it i hope u find a supportive instructor who pushes you to improve without making u feel like shit LMAO, my own instructor started when she was TWENTY SEVEN...she’s...a dream come true, i think the key here is finding someone who Understands u and your goals and a nice schedule that adapts to ur needs. i’ve also found the adult ballet community to be super supportive and rly rly inspiring so yeah. there rly is..no downsides to this (ASIDE FROM THE MASSIVE CRAMPING AND SORENESS AND...OCCASIONAL PULLED MUSCLE...I’D HIGHLY RECOMMEND GETTING PT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE BECAUSE WHEEEW), starting ballet as an adult is super brave imo and yeah!!! i wish u the best of luck <333333

not a dumb question! i write it as mei because that is the correct spelling in japanese (and chinese too from what i’ve been told). mai is pronounced like “my” so it’s... not her name lol. maybe to some it’s not a big deal but i think it shows the lack of research the creators did on the cultures they stole from for their world building. honestly knowing the sounds “ai” vs “ei” makes is pretty basic knowledge of the alphabet and they don’t even seem to possess that
