Plaque at Bremen's Böttcherstraße commemorating the transatlantic flight of the Focke-Wulf FW 200 Condor in 1938. The owner of the Böttcherstraße, Ludwig Roselius, a proponent of a völkisch and national socialist Expressionism, had shares in the Focke-Wulf Werke. While Roselius' artistic views may have cost him an influential position in the party, he remained a National Socialist as much as Focke-Wulf remained a vital part of the German war machine that laid waste to large parts of Europe. The FW 200 Condor, for example, although constructed as long range passenger aircraft, was converted into a maritime bomber and recon aircraft.
