Akito & Yuki Dynamic;

Thanks for the ask, @thetravelerkureno. I mentioned a little about their relationship in here and here so i wanna talk about their relationship dynamic this time.

I think Akito has very big role of the way Yuki’s personality develope because they were always together, spend a lot of times together, they might be not blood related but they grown as siblings in a way. But not just normal siblings, two children without parental figure.

Their mother abandonded them and they both didnt have father in their life. Others are zodiac memvers and servants so they didnt have some kind of parental figure in their life. This is why one of them had to take that role. Of course, as older one and god, Akito took that role.

So i wanna i use real life story to explain Akito and Yuki’s relationship.

Its a story of three sisters; Safiye (oldest), Gulben (middle), Neriman (youngest). I am not gonna mention Neriman cause as youngest, she didnt develope mental illness and unrelated to the subject.

Safiye as oldest, she was always abused by her mother. Her father was absent, he was alive and live with them but he would ignore mother’s abuse. Mother would have issues with being woman and humialate her daughters for borning as woman. She had 4 children before Safiye but they all died from lack of care. It was basically miracle that Safiye somehow survived and she had to endure her mother’s abuse by growing up. And later Gulben and Neriman were born. Safiye always protect her sisters from their mother and their instead, she was beaten up.

Time pass, Safiye also starts to feeling shame for being woman and at high school, she fell in love with a boy. At her birthday, she was about to meet that boy but her mother found out and boy died at car accident in front of Safiye which lead her to believe that her mother was right, she was ominous/curse. Her mother brought her to huse and start beating her and had a heart attack by doing that. Her mother got bedridden and until the day she dies, she blamed Safiye for this.

Safiye was traumatized by all of this. She develope obsessive identify personality disorder (OCID), with Gulben too, Nerian was too young to remember so she didnt develop mental illness.

After her mother’s death, someone had to take ‘that role’. They were all children with no parents. Safiye had to take ‘mother role’ to take care of the house and her siblings but after everything happenned, Safiye was no longer ‘kind and cheerfull big sister’. She started to act like her mother, only mother figure she knew. She started to talk like her, wearing her clothes and stayed in her room. This time, she started to abusing her sisters and house turned it to hell.

(Well years later, youngest one asked help from therapist and with help of teraphy, they all heal later.)

Whats the connection of this? Akito and Yuki’s dynamic is similar to Safiye and Gulben’s.

Safiye as older, she had to take that role and develope dominant character. She had to become something after all and Gulben had to adapt to her and develop passive personality. This is why their personality became opposite of each other to adapt each others or more like, younger one had to adapt older one. Just like how Yuki had to adapt Akito.

Actually there are some similarities between Safiye and Akito too. They both were abused little girls who later develope personality disorders. They lost their entire identify and act like their abusers. They both act as moral keepers and humaliate other girls and theirselves for it cause they both raised by someone like that. (Safiye’s mother, Akito’s mother and Sohma maid). Etc etc. Many similarities.

Safiye was indepentive character who organise everything in the house, basically boss of the household, Gulben was depentive character who couldnt even do single things by herself. If Safiye was always angry and feeling disturbed easiely, then Gulben was peacemaker, that she would have to calm down her big sister. She also became her big sister’s enabler. Just like her sister, she develope ocd too. As much as Gulben is different from her big sister, she shows similar type of behavours because they are raised in similar environment, thats why Gulben end up developing ocd, just like her big sister.

Why this happens? Because siblings who grow up together most of the time develope opposite personality, they give different reactions but show similar type of behavour to the sitution.

Akito was the boss of Sohma Place but unlike Safiye, Akito is extremely depentive character while Yuki is the type that takes responsibility most. If Akito cant control her anger and doesnt think about consequences of her actions, Yuki always always think about consequences of actions. Akito can read poeple’s emotions easiely while Yuki cant read it well. (Though, Yuki isnt Akito’s enabler like Gulben was for Safiye, Akito’s enablers(and abusers) were servants and adults in Sohma place.) Akito always stucks with past and holding onto relationships, even it hurts her or others while Yuki will do anything to move on and forgive the people who hurt him. People compare victim’s reaction, like why Yuki choosing forgiving etc, i think its related to this. Yuki wnts to express his feelings while Akito is drowning in her feelings.

Basically we can see that Akito and Yuki develope opposite personalities and they give different reactions to same cases. Even Akito’s secret softer side and Yuki’s secret darker side realted to this.

But at the same time, they show similar type of behavours. Just like how Akito lash out to people who is inferior than her, Yuki also lash out to Kyo who is inferior than him. They are both ‘empty’ in a way cause they couldnt develope actual personalities, they are both isolated and like a little child. They both looking parental affection, Yuki desire mother figure while Akito desire father figure.

It show that even they are not blood related, Akito and Yuki grown as siblings in a way. Akito’s ‘personality’ was crushed by abusive adults around her and Yuki who only has Akito in his life, he had to adapt to Akito. Though, if only Akito was raised well, she would be amazing big sister to Yuki and they would be really close.

Yeah, they are written as parallels but their dynamic is really interesting. And i just wanted to gve real life example to explain better, making a little pyschlogical analysis.
