Give Gagamboy A Chance! (CRACK FIC)
It was 6:00AM and Junie was preparing his icecream stand, as always. What he didn’t expect was his rival, Dodoy, had already set up his stand hours before he had. “Late as always huh, Junie?” He said in a mocking tone. “Haha, very funny. I didn’t think you’d be up this early when you’re as lazy as a boar.” Dodoy rolled his eyes.
The day went on like usual, many kids from the street clamoring to buy ice cream. It was cute to see how Dodoy would interact with them, though. The kids seem to like his friendly demeanor…if only it extended to other people. “Excuse me?” I’m snapped away from my thoughts. “Ay, sorry! Ano po gusto mo, ma’am?” The lady laughed and got an ube sorbetes. I glance over at Dodoy and it seems he’s staring at...her? I can’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy pang at my heart. Is he interested in her? Does she come by his stand often?
“Liana!” Dodoy called the lady—Liana over. “Kamusta ka na? Nagtatampo ka ba sakin?” He said followed by boisterous laughter. “Hindi, bat mo naman naisip yan?” “Eh dumaan ka dyan kay Junie, alam mo namang mas masarap sorbetes ko!” This caught my attention. “Weh, natikman ko na yan eh! Lasang semento, ewan ko ba kung bat ka pa pumupunta dyan kay Dodoy.” Liana laughs and Dodoy shoots me a glare. “Hayss, wag na nga kayo mag sagutan dyan. Icecream lang naman eh!” Liana says before she sends a wink my way. I guess she’s nice?
A few days pass and tensions are rising between Dodoy and I. And not THAT kind of tension, I meant it in a competitive sense. Recently, my stand has been gaining much more traction than his has. It’s caused sort of a rift between us. Our once playful banter has turned bitter, on his part atleast. As the day comes to an end, I think of confronting him.
“Hoy Dodoy, may problema ba tayo?” This was meant to come off in a concerned way, but it seems Dodoy misinterpreted my intentions. “Huwag mo nga akong kausapin! Baka gusto mo ng away.” He says, pointing a finger to my face. The next moments seem to pass by in a violent haze. I ca barely remember what happened, but a teeth or two were knocked out from the both of us. The only thing I can recall is the both of us being pulled into our boss’ office by security.
“Anong nangyari, ha? Magkapareho na nga kayo ng pinagtratrabahuhan nag-aaway pa kayo! Paano kung i-demote ko kayo pareho?!” And demote us, she did. We are now warehouse guards, working separately. My heart aches at this new environment. I could only talk to him for a limited time before, and now I can’t even see him at all! I really messed things up this time…Maybe I can make it up to him?
Maybe not too soon. After all, time heals all wounds eventually. I’ll just need to adjust and find my place at this new job.
