Hi y’all! Welcome to my autistic nerd project of all time. My name is Rhuby and a lot of y’all probably know me from my comics blog or my AO3.

For a while, I’ve been indexing certain content in DC and Marvel comics, and I decided it’s time to begin to share what I’ve compiled.

Here are the general tags I use for this blog:

#musical moment - Songs that a character is either singing or listening to intentionally

#time for a treat - Food being highlighted and enjoyed by a character in a panel!

#cozy campfire - Issues that feature a camping trip

#birthday buds - Assuming characters’ birthdates based on publication dates of birthday scenes

#caffeine club - Characters’ regular coffee/tea orders!

Please feel free to suggest additional categories. These are just the fun things that have caught my attention while reading comics over the years.

Next, these are the more specific tags for logging sheer numbers

#hallies head injuries - We know Hal Jordan's reputation for gonking his gourd. This is my attempt to log every instance of it from 1959 to the present.

#sultans of swoon - My quest to settle a score for Jean Grey. I believe that Scott, not Jean, is the swooningest of the original X-Men. Here is where I'm keeping the scorecard. **submissions closed as I'm tracking this one chronologically**

I don’t know if the AV teacher knew Dick was planning to play accordion! I love that attention to detail, though, as it is such a nice reflection of his Romani heritage.

The Ranzz family (Ayla and Garth Ranzz and their parents, sans their big brother Mekt) having dinner on their home planet of Winath! Seems to be some sort of meat and rice dish. What's notable to me is that they use chopsticks on Winath!

Oh boy, this is some of the most fun research I’ve done! I’ve found a panel of Superman playing piano before, in DC Rebirth Holiday Special (2016) #1. Now in this issue, we see Lois and Clark have an upright piano in their apartment.

Lois is sick with a bad cold and Clark is bored out of his mind. Despite him playing full accompaniment in the issue I mentioned, he is playing idly here with one finger.

Out of sheer boredom, he gets the idea to drop the piano out the window so he can have some Superman Enrichment.

Now, excuse the iPhone scan— I could not find this comic anywhere, even on the seven seas ☠︎ But by really straining my eyes with my paper copy, I saw the sheet music on the piano is Metamorphosis by Philip Glass!

Then Lois refers to the instrument as her piano!

I am psyched for several reasons! One, Philip Glass is one of my absolute favorite composers. Two, you do not often see people outside the classical music community who are familiar with living composers, or music composed in the past century.

Three, and most importantly for the Encyclopedia: It makes so much sense for a whip-smart, highly educated lady like Lois to be into contemporary classical music! I especially love that she can play, or is at least learning how to play, this piece. Such an itty bitty detail that means a lot for her character. Well done, Kathryn Immonen or Tonči Zonjić, whoever was responsible for this tiny moment!
