Malasana 🐸 (mala en sánscrito significa guirlanda y asana, postura ). Es una asana de apertura de la cadera y que ayuda a alargar la columna vertebral.

Además es una asana para combatir el miedo. Cuando tenemos miedo solemos encogernos, cerrando el pecho y las caderas. Para mí practicar malasana me ayuda a enfrentar mis miedos.

DETAIL + DEPTH | This next mini-sequence within the sequence focuses on preparing the body for hip and spinal flexion. Sit on a chair and open the feet wider than the ribcage. Point the feet forward. Inhale, lift the arms and find as much length through the spine. Exhale, lean forward and place the forehead and two hands on tall blocks. If necessary, use even more support for the head and hands, such as extra blankets on top of the forehead block and a wall for the hands. Press down through the inner feet, lift the ribcage away from the waist, and reach through the arms. Allow the head to rest completely. Stay and breathe for 1-3 minutes, and continue to lower the height of the support for the head and hands (Slides 1-3). Next, hold onto the front legs of the chair and lift the spine and chest, as if coming into a seated Ardha Uttansana. Use this position to feel the connection between the inner knees and outer arms/shoulders, a necessary relationship in Tittibhasana | Firefly Pose. Squeeze the knees into the arms but at the same time widen the collarbones into the knees. Look forward, stay and breathe. (Slide 4) Then, with an exhale, pull on the chair legs to fold between the legs. Reach for the back legs of the chair and release the head. Depending on body proportion and range of motion, it may be helpful to scoot forward or back on the chair seat. Feel the spreading of the shoulderblades as in the previous two poses. Gently lift the lower abdomen away from the top of the thighs to find more length in the front body. Stay and breathe.
