Personal headcanon in question: Maria gifted to Gehrman his red scarf. He'd normally avoid garish clothing, but as he would refuse any high-class item she could've given him, this was the only compromise that allowed her to still show her care for him and definitely not put her hands on his skin even for a second. Neither of them ever spoke of it. 😏

Any fellow POTO fan can easily understand why I got so taken by that scarf the first time I saw it - I mean, you start the game and see an old man in a wheelchair wearing it, c'mon!!.

Although Gehrman was Maria's teacher, they were around the same age when they were dating. Had Maria not died, she would have been an old woman just like how Gehrman is an old man.

context: Unwilling to embrace the truth about each other in both life and in death, the two yet remain inextricably connected. Lady Maria's adored Gehrman was no better than the other hunters she abhorred for their curiosity. With her heart going away as she cut ties with the Old Hunters after the events of the Fishing Hamlet, then with her body bleeding out until the last drop at the top of the Astral Clocktower, Gehrman lost her two times. His strong feelings for her blossomed like never before in his all-consuming despair. Unable to let go of his obsession, he hoped that the Doll he created could give him the past and the future he had lost, yet his wish was not granted.

It’s foreshadowing! For now, Maria is just sleeping, but it resembles the way Gerhman would hold her again one day when he finds her….…well….you know….😢

Finally after almost 2 months… i finally did it.

Gehrmaria for the ship bingo, I want to hear more about your opinion on them

Omg gehrmaria..... overhated ship and like its not even my biggest maria ship. Has genuinely all the ingredients for it to be great and popular and i will be forever in love with their tragedy like what if you were my beloved apprentice and you based your whole being on this up until our atrocities became too much and you left and i watched as you turned more and more suicidal and killed yourself while i could do nothing and ended up doing a replica of what you could have been if i didnt corrupt you but she is hollow because she lacks everything that made you you. I am also sad because like. With these premises its painfully unpopular and ao3 is like devoid of gehrmaria fics especially there are no gehrmaria longfics 😭

And like i put platonic sexual romantic all in once because i do think on both sides it was. Like that. They cared for each other like they were family but were sexually attracted to each other and werent their whole circumstances so fucked they would have been great romantic partners but also i think their whole relationship was stuck at the "before falling in love" part where its all just tension and wishes of what could it be but being too scared to act on it either way (on gehrman's part it was because maria was way younger than him (tho not the extreme he was a crusty old man and she a little girl. Like 15~ish year gap), on maria's it was because she didn't want to "corrupt" gehrman and the relationship he had with her by making moves on him. They had found a balance that wasn't wholly satisfactory but that they were both too afraid of breaking)
