You asked for it... and in 2025, which marks Bloodborne's 10th anniversary, the infamous Gehrmaria fanfiction is finally here >:D or at least, the first few chapters are. I hope I'll be able to update this regularly but I don't want to make any promises.

Some things to know about this:

Winter Solstice was originally a collection of one shots lacking real connecting tissue. Sure, they were written in the same universe and certain chapters referenced things that had happened in others but it was, overall, a bit of a mess.

The bulk of the story was originally written entirely in Italian (200+ pages).

All the new chapters I'm adding to make the story easier to consume are being written directly in English. You may therefore notice a difference in style between the old and new chapters because the latter don't need to go through the process of translation. My writing style has also changed a bit during the years.

I have absolutely no idea how long this thing end up being. We'll see, lol.

Winter Solstice is primarily a GehrmanXMaria story, but features practically the entire cast of Bloodborne in one way or another. It even gives space to minor characters nobody else aside from me gives a damn about, such as Graveguard Dores, the Password Gatekeeper and even some cut characters hidden in the files of the game.

Characters NOT featured include: Simon, Brador, Valtr, Gascoigne, Viola, Iosefka, Adella and Alfred. Others, like Eileen, Arianna and the Hunter play very minor roles.

The story covers a span of 6 years. It starts with Maria's arrival in Byrgenwerth and ends with the creation of the Hunter's Dream as we know it.

The Worldbuild is STRONK and probably my favorite thing about this fic and why I am so attached to it :D

The tone of the story flipflops between serious, comedic and the closest thing to actual existential horror I am capable of writing.

3. I feel like (more than once) Gehrman has been quietly minding his own business, toodling with weapons, or doodling ideas... and then he's just: why do I hear boss music? The answer is, whenever he's being cute and minding his own business, or sexy and covered with blood, Maria's brain goes straight to: "I need to bounce on that old man's lap till I can't feel my hips." She always makes this his problem.

And like any unsuspecting Hunter, he's never prepared for the random boss encounter.

Seeing Fujimoto and your version of Gehrman next to each other has changed my brain chemistry forever and I m not complaining.

Lmao I'll take that as a compliment XD.

The funny thing is that a friend and I made a direct comparison between these two because of the new Pokemon game, ZA. She was like 'hey mal, I know you're not a Nintendo person, but have you seen the new design for AZ in the game? He looks a bit like Gehrman!"

To which I replied that I thought he looked like Fujimoto ... and now we can't unsee the similarities to both XD

Wow, I didn’t expect to get so invested in your fanfic! Maria is such a pain in the ass (affectionate) and Gehrman’s out here living up to his “it always comes down to me to clean up after these sorts of messes” while being absolutely DONE with everyone’s bullshit. Didn’t think I’d end up rooting for them this hard, but here we are XD

Aww, thank you! Glad you're enjoying it, I'm having tons of fun reworking and expanding on the fic! I love those two cretins soo much and it has been quite fun writing 'bitchy' Maria for multiple chapters. Back when this story was comprised of one-shots that lacked connecting tissue, her first appearance already presented her as someone her on the way of becoming more personable with the Byrgenwerth gang.

Now that I'm writing down things chronologically, I have the time to show how much her experience at the college affects her (and how everyone else changes their opinion of her too! She's not the only one with prejudice, obviously) and give more space to the secondary characters. I'm really enjoying writing Rom, Annalise and Laurence for example >:D

Public service announcement: I joined AO3 and will slowly but surely unleash upon the world a ton of Bloodborne oneshots that I have written during the years :3.

Some stories need editing and others require a full on translation since at the beginning of my journey into Bloodborne I was still writing in Italian and a ton of the Gehrmaria content I've produced in almost 10 years is relegated to my native language. So uh, stay tuned for some old fics coming back from the grave.

In the meantime, let me you guys in on a secret 👀 before I became known as the mother of the worst bloodborne ship, some of my favorite games of all time were OG Bioware games. Mass Effect is by far the best series I ever played but one I never actually produced any fan content for, because it already tells a very complete and involved story that never put my creative juices into motion. I just enjoyed it for what it was and liked most of the things that they did from a narrative standpoint.

[Those who have been following this blog for a long time may remember that it was originally called 'BellringerKat' and that Katrina is the name of my player character in Bloodborne. Well, Katrina is also the name of my canon fem!Commander Shepard. In fact, Hunter!Kat is named after Commander!Kat <3]

Dragon Age on the other hand, is a series that had its hit and misses (I will defend DA2 till the day I die) but as the games went on it distanced itself from aspects of the lore I loved and found the most interesting: the Darkspawn as the main enemies, the Tevinter Imperium and its long, twisted history, the Chantry and its strict doctrine, the Gray Wardens as a main faction you are involved with and so on.

Soooo yeah, I actually wrote some Dragon Age fanfics before and are currently working on a new story that focuses exactly on all of the above in addition to a couple of really cursed ships! (I mean, have you SEEN my husband, the Architect?! They don't draw problematic monster men like that anymore i_i )

I bet that if you enjoyed my take on one group of blood-drinking lunatics who dungeon delve to kill slumbering old gods while also counting down the days till they become monsters themselves, you may also like my take on the Gray Wardens ;).

Another year is gone ♡

I have been a member of HMCI (Hidetaka Miyazaki Cosplayers Italy) since 2018 and it is always a pleasure to take part in their activities and events. This year I got be a quest giver and summonable cooperator against the final boss in their mini-larp event (hence why you see me with that tiny cauldron in my hands lol, it contained item cards the players needed to progress in the game) and it was so much fun!

The group is already planning some cool new events for this year and obviously they will all be Bloodborne-themed to celebrate the 10th anniversary! The night of the hunt approaches ☆w☆ see you in Lucca (Italy) next November for the largest Bloodborne fans and cosplayers gathering Yharnam has ever seen!

I'll be probably wearing the Choir set again ♡ it has been so long!
