I live in an interfaith household and we do Hanukkah but the person who does most of the shopping in our family isn't Jewish, and instead of gelt she just gets a big bag of those little miniature Reese's cups (partially bc two of us don't like milk/dark chocolate so this gives us a white chocolate option). I've always kinda wondered if this is weird/unusual for dreidel?

things I've played dreidel with that was not gelt:

- real pennies

- monopoly money

- uncooked pasta

- cups

and I'm sure there are more that I'm not remembering right now, so no anon that is not weird or unusual at all. chocolate gelt has only been around for maybe a hundred years or so anyway!

Chanukah Gelt

Hanukkah gelt and cowboy cookie for my last ‘snack’ last night. Hanukkah gelt are chocolate coins. Didn’t feel like I really celebrated the holiday until I had these. I went to a local market yesterday, and they still had them in the Hanukkah display. Last night was the start of the 6th night. So, a little late. They were good. The cookie was good, too. Found a box of them at the same market.
