I had the incredible good fortune of working on Steven Universe with all of its wonderful, hilarious, and inspiring artists and voice cast for five years - from "Gem Glow" to "Change Your Mind" (and the beginnings of the movie).
Now that "Change Your Mind" has aired, I wanted to post a collection of photos of some of my favorite episode foods I made for the crew over the years (mostly from before the bombs made it a bit difficult to keep up the tradition):
- These weren’t for an episode airing, but I made Cookie Cats for the first time way back in 2013 for Rebecca’s birthday (a few months before the show premiered):
- For "Serious Steven":
- For "Steven's Lion" - my first time experimenting with rice krispie treat sculpting (I wish I had pictures of the process, but apparently I didn’t take any):
- Heaven and Earth Beetle oreo truffles for "Giant Woman":
- For "Mirror Gem" and "Ocean Gem" (There were gummy sea creatures in there somewhere - I think they sank to the bottom):
- For "The Return" and "Jail Break" (don’t worry - I sterilized the plastic bin):
- For "Bismuth" - Episode 100!!! (rice krispie treat gem temple sculpture with a bunch of cake to fill in the hill):
- And a few more photos of some of the ones that I loved for the fact that the artists drew on the foods with/for me (examples below were for "Cat Fingers" and "Tiger Millionaire", but also see above in the last hand ship photo for the hands of some of the lovely people who helped with the blue detailing on it):
Sidenote: the rice krispie treat legs ship that I made for "Change Your Mind" a few days ago was my "if every porkchop were perfect, we wouldn't have hotdogs" moment - I wasn't able to finish carving and coating it like I originally planned, but it ended up being way more fun to just bring what I had to the party and dump the melted pink chocolate on it there for a team coating effort.
Love forever to the Crewniverse and this beautiful show!!! And thank you, Rebecca!!!!
So I don't know if this has been explained before, but what happened on that area and its sorroundings that made it so special for gem-kind? -Two warp pads (temple and barn) Sidenote: Someone has thought what did Andy's parents thought when they saw the warp pad, like "weird alien portal well, better build a barn near it" - The cluster was directly underneath the barn (I want to know where is the hole, like you can't just teleport a giant thing like that on the ground just like that) Something weird, considering that it should be below the Kindergarten, but it's understandable, since there wasn't any good terrain and the gem mutants where there...so. *The cluster concept art is near Beach City. -The CG temple. I wonder if there's going to be an explanation to the weird importance of Beach City and nearby areas to gems. What do you think?
