Aquamarine hunt

⚒️🍃 Nothing soothes the body and mind like the spring greenery of Cer Mountain forests, the blue skies, and an aquamarine glow. 💎 Yesterday’s family adventure on Cer was a total hit! ❤️

💚We finished our rockhounding trip at North Carolina's famous Crabtree Emerald Mine, in Little Switzerland. Crabtree is one of two emerald mines in the US that are open to the public (the other is Emerald Hollow, Hiddenite, NC.) This was one of our favorite stops--the forests here were lusciously beautiful, and the fall colors had just begun to turn. Crabtree's rocks were super cool! They combined black tourmaline, blue and golden beryl, garnets, moonstone, quartz, and the teeniest of tiny emeralds. A neat stop and a great way to finish our busy rockhounding trip. 💎Before we headed on to NC for the second leg of our whirlwind rockhounding trip, we stopped at the famous Crater of Diamonds State Park, in Murfreesboro, AR! Crater of Diamonds is unlike anywhere else we've hunted for gems--it's the 8th largest diamond source in the world, and the only source that is open to the public. Searching for a needle in a haystack doesn't quite describe the sense of futility in finding diamonds here--that being said, tens of thousands of diamonds have been found here by eager rockhounds. Did we find anything? Sedalia was once the largest copper mine in Colorado, and encompasses steep hills and huge tailings that contain garnets, chrysocolla, and much more.
