A whole week to celebrate the relationship between Cloud Strife & Genesis Rhapsodos - From the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII. Stories set in any part of the timeline are welcome, as well as totally out there AUs and Crossovers of any kind.
Are there any rules?
Only a few!
Keep your story focused on the relationship between Cloud and Genesis. Background relationships between them and other characters, like AGSZC or anything else should stay that way, in the background. There are a lot of stories of all the guys together but not as many with just these two so this fan week is important for adding to the ecosystem (and, frankly, enriching our enclosure okay??)
NSFW is totally acceptable, just make sure you tag everything appropriately wherever you choose to post it
When you make a post here on Tumblr put a little @strifesodosweek so that I can make sure you’re shared here for everyone to see! If you post on AO3 please add it to the collection so that everyone can find it there as well!
You must write the fic specifically for the event, using the prompts you get!
Please share this so other people can know its happening to participate!
So where are the prompts?? Right HERE!
Well, we’re going to do things a little bit differently this year! Instead of having one specific list of prompts that everyone is assigned each day, we're going to work together to create a whole wheel of prompts! Some I came up with myself, most I'll be choosing from submissions, and I will smash them all together so that everyone has a much broader range of things to choose from.
I only have a few guidelines I’d like people to adhere to for this, and they are as follows:
Spin the wheel seven times + one do-over if you get one that you really hated or have no idea for
You’re free to do the prompts in the order you were randomly assigned or whichever order you want, I’m not a cop
Since I’m not a cop, I can’t stop you from just choosing what you like from the list instead of spinning, but it would be a lot more fun for everyone involved if you played along the way the system is set up :)
How about we come up with a prompt list together, just like last year but a little bit to the left. Click here to submit up to five prompt ideas for the list. I'll choose at least one from each person or more if I really really love it. Deadline to submit prompts is MAY FIRST!
Color and light smear across his vision in neon brushstrokes, a divine act, the whole world turned upside down in the reflections on the asphalt and in car windows and in the rain, rushing down storm drains at a constant, roaring pace. Angeal's presence at his side is the only thing keeping him upright; otherwise, Genesis is absolutely certain that he would have tipped face first into the street and drowned in a puddle—more by grace of his blood-alcohol concentration being what it is than anything else.
Caged in by Angeal's solid form, Genesis takes the time to appreciate the road that they're stumbling their way down, which leads him to appreciate the few individuals on it, which leads him to appreciate—
Goddess. Maybe Genesis did drown in a puddle after all.
The man in front of them might as well be an angel, soaking wet blond hair haloed in the pale white light of a liquor-shop display, soggy black turtleneck clinging to him in all the right places, black eyeliner smudged expertly.
Heavens above. His eyes are beautiful. He can't help himself, really—something must be said.
"Your beauty is the gift of the Goddess!" Genesis says, trying to make himself sound a little bit less drunk than he actually is. He does what he believes to be a spectacular job: he only sounds tipsy.
The angel immediately steps off of the sidewalk, walking in the gutter to avoid him. "Not interested."
"Shut up, Genesis," Angeal, who clearly does not understand, hisses. He presses Genesis firmly into his side, secured at the shoulders, to keep him from pursuing that absolute slice of heaven of a man.
"No! Come back!" he despairs. "Do you fly away now? To a world that abhors you and I?"
"Uh, whatever that means? Yeah," the angel says, his face falling into sharp relief as he walks closer, beautifully balanced features highlighted in all neon colors. It's a good look on him.
"Truly, the fates are cruel," Genesis murmurs. "Your desire would be the bringer of life."
Genesis barely makes out a "screw this," before his angel steps out of the gutter, storming across the street, taking little notice of the inch of rain water on the ground. He looks back at Angeal and says something that Genesis doesn't quite catch, and Genesis sees a light coming, but he feels all warm and fuzzy and can't quite get his mouth to work right—
I feel like my creative output doesn't properly reflect how much @sunderedstar's raksura core writing has consumed me lately! Also since its inception, but especially lately. So it's time to address that! Which, tragically, means that I need to figure out how to draw raksuran queens, but god gives his toughest battles to his most hyperfixated soldiers, etc. But the scene where Genesis flirts outrageously with Cloud while Cloud is in a certain popular backless ensemble was too good to pass up.
If you don't know what the books of the raksura are, I highly recommend it (it's the fantasy series martha wells wrote before murderbot), and then, you just need to take the ffvii/crisis core cast and drop them into this setting, where everyone is a bunch of lizard bee shifters in a society of feral homesteaders. It's so good, I swear. And the universes slot together better than you'd think! There are remarkable parallels between Cloud and the protagonist of the book series, Moon. And in this setting, Angeal, Sephiroth, Genesis, Zack, and Cloud are able to make out extensively without anyone being tragically dead before that's an option, which is very personally important to me. With any luck, this won't be the past piece of art! If I'm going to work on figuring out how to draw queens, it's ABSOLUTELY getting inflicted on everyone around me!
