idw giving the kraang daddy issues:
sorry guys, making tmnt idw shitposts is way more fun than making actual art. bare with me or unfollow me :0)
It’s September 5th 00:43 (at least it is in my city BUT i still wanted to post this rn bc i waited so long to post this since i made this beforehand like two days ago) and I recently found out that TMNT IDW: H-M #8 came out on September 5th of 2012 which makes this issue 10 years old this year and
OF COURSE I HAD TO MAKE SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE THE ANNIVERSARY!!! As you can tell, Honeycutt/Fugitoid is my favourite TMNT character ESPECIALLY the IDW iteration he’s my #1 fave (with 2003 being the #2 favourite he’s also cool imho). So, I decided to draw my own version of the cover for this particular issue (which is by no means an official cover I just kept the original lettering!)…even though I spent almost, in total, 20 hours on this (and was struggling with perspective and asked my friend @ulichzae5al for help THANK YOU SWEETIE) I’m really happy with how it turned out and I’d be even more happy if you reblogged this 💖
next sketch about others characters from tmnt
Returning my previous theory on Krang having particular struggles, this is a pretty standout reiteration.
I gotta wonder, when was the last time Krang touched ground in the outdoors before this? And didn’t suffocate from getting too much oxygen? He doesn’t really have a lot of choices, besides his suit and specially pressured rooms. (As for the question of why all the Utroms had to go into stasis if pressurized rooms were an option, I think Bobby Curnow told me that it would have been too expensive to support multiple Utroms like that, nor was there enough Ooze)
So for the first time in years, he’s not just able to breathe, but he’s able to go outdoors and crawl around openly.
And then there’s another factor: the fact that it reminds him of home. When he’s been living a life of little to nothing being like home. Add to having no friends or family (or lover? Ch’rell???) available to at least dampen the homesickness a little, and his anxiousness to finish the Technodrome makes a little sense.
Krang’s situation is quite sad when you break down the details...I think he could have had a different path if his civilization hadn’t been destroyed, personally. The Krang in Utrom Empire is so very different from the one the turtles had to deal with, and Honeycutt probably saw the transformation in real time. I even think that very, very early on, he tried to help Krang and be his friend, until it was clear that the Krang he knew was too far gone.
I don't know if you have noticed but
I bought and painted a whole wooden box specifically for "comic collection aesthetic" purposes :0)
Fanart of my friend @issadrawlikeagod TMNT AU because I love it so much! She once said that Krang likes board games and I immediately was like "THEY SHOULD PLAY MONOPOLY" so... that's some context for this art, hope it helped "":D
basically just krang, mortu and honeycutt playing monopoly aaaaahhhhhh i love them-
