When he's nervous about professional matters, Mycroft gets irritatable. Of course, this is not a particularly strong reaction as it is covered up by his typical cold, professional demeanour, and, thankfully, 'nerves' can already be rephrased as 'stress'.

When it comes to personal matters that he's nervous about, he fidgets. It's a tiny action, usually playing with a shirt cuff or tapping a foot, but for anybody that knows him well enough to be familiar with his behaviour, it's a definite change from the norm.

The closer he is with somebody, the more likely he is to give a less guarded reaction to any feeling, not just nervousness or stress. Obviously, family are the most likely to witness this, but other people can get to that stage too with time.

Mycroft is a man that is good at a great many things, but kissing - as well as any other act of intimacy - is not on that list. He's unsure of himself, hesitant to linger, and - to be quite honest - doesn't even particularly enjoy it. It doesn't make for a particularly enjoyable experience.

Or, that is, it isn't as first. One of the skills that Mycroft does possess is the ability to notice tiny details. Despite this uncertainty, this ability does not cease to exist during intimate moments, allowing him to rapidly adapt to a partner's likes and dislikes. Over time, kissing never becomes his favourite activity, but he learns what tricks he can pull to ensure his partner's enjoyment, as well as how to mask any remaining hesitancy.

The downside of this is that it can be quite formulaic. Once Mycroft finds a combination that seems to work, he sticks with it. He never seems fully relaxed, and he rarely experiments with anything new unless it's made clear to him that it would be appreciated.

A timeline of Mycroft’s life:

1970: Born (July 18th)

1977 (7yo): Sherlock born

1978 (8yo): Eurus born

1983/4 (13/4yo): Mycroft goes to Eton, having previously been home schooled. Sherlock’s friend, Victor Trevor, goes ‘missing’. Eurus burns the house down. Eurus ‘dead’

1984/5 (14/5yo): Mycroft does his A-levels

1985/6 (15/6yo): Mycroft’s first year at Oxford (Christ Church college)

1987/8 (17/8yo): Mycroft’s last year at Oxford. Once he graduates, he goes to work at MI6.

1990 (20yo): Mycroft’s MI6 training is complete. He begins work on a long-term undercover project of finding and removing moles, traitors, and the like from within the secret service. He presents himself as having decided that field work isn’t for him, moving to a desk job, when in reality he’s investigating those around him. Mycroft’s first romantic relationship also occurs (Peter Maddock, a more experienced agent that trained him). It ends a few months later.

1992 (22yo): Mycroft’s second romantic relationship (Thomas Dymock). Thomas is not aware of the truth of his work

1993 (23yo): Relationship with Thomas ends. Mycroft moves into doing proper fieldwork

1996 (26yo): Mycroft leaves fieldwork after a hostage situation that caused him to be quite badly hurt. Goes into his current job - a unique role that he’s slowly been plating the seeds for during his earlier career

2010 (40yo): Mycroft becomes an earl. Sherlock meets John.

2011 (41yo): Sherlock ‘dies’.

2013 (43yo): Sherlock comes back.

2014 (44yo): Sherlock kills Magnussen

2016 (46yo): The Eurus situation occurs

Mycroft is usually driven to and from work every day, allowing him to work during the commute and therefore use his time more efficiently.

His driver picks him up from his house at exactly the same time every morning. If Mycroft wants to go into the office earlier than that for any reason, he has to rive himself (meaning that he also drives himself home).

He does not come home at the same time every night. Usually, Mycroft stays late at the office and comes home whenever his tasks for the day are done. If it gets very late, he will sleep in his room at the Diogenes Club instead.

Siger is a serial cheat. He cheated on his ex-wife when they were married, and he’s cheated on every woman that he’s been in a ‘relationship’ with each. Does he care, though? No, of course not. Siger is exactly the kind of bastard that has no empathy for those that he hurts in his quest for his own enjoyment.

Mycroft struggles to read his own handwriting. Everybody does because his handwriting is just terrible. However, unlikely everybody else, Mycroft had the advantage of the fact that he has an exceptional memory and so just remembers what he’s written. He’s so used to doing this that he doesn’t actually realise that he struggles to read it.

Of course, this can cause issues if he doesn’t remember what he’s written for any reason (for example, if he makes a note while extremely drunk). Thankfully, he can actually read it if he tries hard enough - it just takes a few minutes for him to work out the words.
