Shiniinsoo here. The black rose is a reference to the drinking game "Black Rose (흑장미)". About Kim Min-hee, doesn't she find it frustrating to be named after the same actress with the scandal (of the decade)? "새 sae" both means "new" & "bird"...we all know what "sae poldeo" contains *wink*
Hi, I’m having difficulty with your ask CAPTCHA on mobile so I’m gonna leave part 2 of my ask here. “Ilhoseon” means Line Number One (일호선 一號線) in a metropolitan subway system…this can mean Il Hoseon is a subway beggar/hobo LOL. “님은 딴 곳에” literally means “(my) beloved is in another place”…as evidenced by Lee Hyun-jung’s “flirting”.
Just remembered (make this part 3), here’s the rationale of “Ilhoseon”: during ancient times, unimportant people (esp. underaged children and women) were called not by their names (if they had any), but terms such as “X’s daughter/son”, “X-ne” (ne being either translated as mother or household, e.g. Sarang'i-ne), “X-daek” (X being either someone’s household or province/town/village of origin, e.g. Andong-daek), “amugae” (worthless dog, e.g. Jeong amugae), etc. So from my guess being Seo Tae-hun is a beggar in the subway mostly begging/residing at Line One, he was called “Line Number One (beggar)-ssi” since no one really cares who his name is.
1. For those who don’t know, a ‘black rose’ in Korean drinking culture refers to a woman who volunteers to take a drink for a man (when they have to as a penalty for whatever game they play). ‘Black knight’ vice versa. That’s why Lee Hyun Jung kissed Seo Tae Hoon in place of Kim Seung Hye.
2. I’m pretty sure there are many people with the name ‘Kim Min Hee’, it’s quite a common name imo.
3. Ah, I didn’t realise it was referring to ‘new folder’……
4. Yup. I guess it was easier for INTERZ/KBSWorld to use the name ‘Please Go Away’.
5. Yeah, I was pretty sure of that when he mentioned ‘seon’. And wow, I think you’re right about that. Referring to him as “Line No. 1 beggar” makes sense if you keep seeing him but his name is… not important.
