This whole murder business was turning out to be such a funny thing; first she's cornered by a rather irate detective, then nearly pawed by that handsy private investigator and now there are fugitives in her parlor. What a delightful story this would make at her next function. "What did you hope to inspire by coming here? Sympathy? A false confession?
