I keep giving Dr. Teeth's parents new lore, I just really like them

Teeth gets his musical talent and fun loving from his father, Gerald, who settled down when he met Tina

When they were young, Gerald didn't take anything seriously, he partied, played music, and traveled, but then he met Tina, who was the exact opposite.

Tina was serious and hardworking, and she focused all of her time and energy on her studies and work instead of letting herself have any fun.

I like to think they initially did not get along, at all. Gerald thought she was a buzz kill, and Tina thought he was ridiculous and a lost cause. Over time, however, Gerald got her to loosen up and enjoy herself, and Tina got him to settle down and take things seriously, and they balanced each other out.

Gerald was broke and living out of his van when they first met, often playing music for food or money, but when he locked in and went to school for dentistry with his girlfriend, his life became more stable and it was easier for him to afford nice things.

When they had Gerald Jr. (Dr Teeth), Tina already wanted him to be a dentist like the two of them, and Gerald agreed, but mostly because he had lived a poor van life, struggling for food and a roof over his head, and he didn't want his son to struggle like he did.

I think that's why it was Gerald in the end who told his son, 'No, you should play music, it's what you're good at,' because he saw a lot of himself in Teeth, and he saw that not only was he successful already, but it was what made him happy.

Fic idea i just had uhhh

Oneshot that's basically just Gerald and Tina, now that they've started rebuilding their relationship with Teeth, are finally noticing the subtle changes in his behavior when they're around him

Like, YES they've accepted him finally and begun rebuilding things, but they've left an affect on their son that simply apologizing isn't gonna fix, and in this oneshot they can't stop noticing it

Little glimpses at moments along the lines of where they're visiting Teeth and the band, and he's off to the side talking with one or two others so openly, smile wide as ever, talking with his hands and using his unique vocabulary a ton, then one of the two approaches and join the ongoing conversation, being polite and everything

And while Teeth's smile remains and he happily holds conversation with them, he seems to instinctively shrink in on himself, not using his hands as much as he speaks and keeping them close to himself, posture ever so slightly worsening, his word choices losing some of its flair (all things that happen in Fortunate Son if you pay attention to it)

It's not something he means to do of course, it's something instinctual that has happened around them for a long time

And it can be so subtle at times, but I want Tina and Gerald, now that they're focused on their son's happiness and not his career choice, to notice it, notice the small things and be forced to confront it, as it doesn't seem like they grasp the effect their actions may have had on their son and I personally think they should see it for themselves

OUH GOT A LITTLE CARRIED AWAY THERE but I think I got the point across,,,, Tina and Gerald noticing all the little things

Lol imaginings these guys playing a board game or really any game for a game night is so entertaining to think about. Like Tibbs is already getting super competitive, he shows no mercy. Maybe whenever it came to Terri or Lena he'd take it easy, BUT TINA?????? Nah he's gonna make sure he wins against her 😂

One of my favorite things in movies and cartoons is seeing a character’s younger self be NOTHING like their current self

There is something so funny seeing the mature mentor/parent figure be a little shit as a kid, like with Professor Utonium in PPG or the antagonist being sweet as pie when they were younger, like with Randall from Monsters Inc/University

It’s both entertaining and perfect for character development
