I am going to give using a tiny brush along with some of the ink pens. I'm going to try to google info on brushes and look for youtube vids (I will probably use a round no. 2 sable brush, I think), but do you have any brush sites (especially for brush care when using ink) or any resources you'd recommend?

Kolinsky sable is obviously the nicest thing you can get your hands on. A while back I took a cartooning course from one of the adjutants who does work for Archie on the regular and has done work-for-hire for Marvel and DC in the past, among others, and as part of the discounted art supply pack I ended up with a Winsor-Newton Series 7 brush, which is a nicer brush than I deserve to own for stupid cheap. Luckily, I also learned some shit about brush care from that professor.

India ink is pretty notorious for (a) being a bitch to clean and (b) causing splits in the brushes, so you pretty much never want to let it get up into the ferrule, as that can lead to disaster. You can load your brush about three-quarters of the way up, and that’ll serve your purposes just fine. You will probably need to change out your water several times in the course of a project especially if, like me, you work in washes often. Rinsing your brush in dirty water obviously isn’t going to help much. Also, never let your brush rest tip-down in the water because it will ruin your tip shape in a hurry. If you need to walk away from it for a moment, rinse your brush as best you can and pat dry and let it rest horizontally. If you let them fully air-dry the ferrule can rust.

When you’ve finished inking, you can wash your brush in warm (not hot) water, and I generally use this brush soap. Rinse and repeat as necessary until water runs clear. With india ink especially this can and will take several minutes. When I was using cheaper brushes, a small jot of dish soap served my purposes well enough, but those were largely synthetic hairs and I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re using natural hair brushes. Windsor-Newton recommends a “mild soap” so baby shampoo or similar may be an acceptable substitute too. After washing, re-form the brush shape with your fingers, gently squeezing out any excess water. Most good brushes will come with a small protective cap for the head, which you can replace on them once the brush is dry or mostly dry (mine is just a small tube, so there’s sufficient airflow for a brush to dry if it’s not soaking wet). Never store them with the brush head down, especially if you don’t have a protective cap.

You can clean metal pen nibs for dip pens with rubbing alcohol as they obviously don’t need to be babied as much.

i was just telling somebody the other day that i would have liked to meet douglas adams.  from his essays he seemed like a really thoughtful person with a brilliant way with words.  people who knew him spoke highly of him as well.  i learned about his existence like a week before he died. :(

2. Were you a bigger ‘Poke’mon’ or ‘Digimon’ fan, or were you too cool for that stuff?

i liked pokemon for the cards and the gameboy games.  i still have my 10-year old pokemon from sapphire on my 3ds.  :)

3. Have you ever traveled to another continent? Or do you prefer being home?

loaded question!  just because i've never traveled to another continent doesn't mean i wouldn't like to.  the farthest i've been from my home country was cozumel.

4. What’s the absolute worst film/book you’ve ever seen/read?

there's a kind of film that's universally terrible, but i can't stop watching them on netflix: american films about weird environmental disasters.  cringeworthy pseudo-science, shoehorned romance, unsubtle use of stock footage, and ham-fisted aesops about the hubris of mankind.

5. Let’s say we all got into Hogwarts…what house are you in?

ravenclaw or hufflepuff, it's a toss-up.

6. Have you even been given a bouquet of flowers?

well no, but that's probably because flowers are fragile, take up a lot of space, and are good for like two days before they start to rot...

7. Someone has wronged you, do you live and let live, or do you swear vengeance?

i tend to let things go, as getting vengeance is a hassle.  i might avenge someone else, though.

8. Are beards lovely or foul?

a beard is more about what the person wearing it wants than what i want.  although like all things i have my preferences regarding texture and style.

9. What is the one type of person you see that makes you inwardly (or outwardly) groan?

people who blame the effects of toxic gender norms on feminists.

10. Do we all spend too long on Tumblr?

yes. yes we do.

I like sweet things. ^^ Let it be chocolate sweets. ^^ 11) Tell me abot an AU where main characters are you and your best friend! ^-^ There is actually a story like this, based on the "Guilty Crown" world. ^^ We have composed it together with a friend of mine, it is somehow connected with the GC anime but still very alternative. Our characters, Ri and Alice, are not the main characters but still very important. They work together to free Japan from the GHQ and to establish democracy. These girls are best friends, very good but somehow naive and super-clumsy, so their leader, Gai (the main character of the story, taken from the GC but not very in-canon) experiences lots of troubles because of Alice and Ri. ^^ The story is full of so-called science-fiction (not very scientific though) and humour... But the jokes are mostly "for the authors' use only" bc they are based on our real-life experience. ^^
