And I don't just mean the typical 5-6 bot combiners. Like, maybe your favorite is the Aerialbots/Superion, but maybe it's Super God Masterforce Overlord or Wingwaver from Victory (or all of the Multiforce who combine into Landcross).
So who is your favorite?
I think SGM Overlord might just take the cake for me, but I do love Heave and Barrage although they only combine into a vehicle.
You cannot tell me that gestalts are not glued to the hip in every way but literally.
I'd say they get so close it's like they're trying to fuse together but. That's literally what they do. But when you get to the peak of what's actually possible, it eventually doesn't feel like enough.
So gestalts are clingy. All of them. Even gestaltmates who aren't the clingy type. Hook, all the Stunticons excluding Wildrider and Drag Strip, and pretty much all the Combaticons? If you ever see them sleeping away from their gestalt's cuddle pile then something has gone very wrong.
I can easily envision Scrapper reaching for a data pad infront of Hook and he's straight up plastered against Hook's back as much as he can possibly be with Hook's crane boom in the way. (As much as Hook complains about it, he doesn't seem to mind it much. Hmm, wonder why that is :~). ) Don't even get me started on Wildrider and Scavenger.
In almost every circumstance, Wildrider is consistently found draped over the other Stunticons like a blanket. I once saw a post (or reblog tags) discussing what they think the Stunticons' roles are in their cuddle pile, and in it they said that Wildrider would be ontop of the pile, either laying ontop of everybody or in his altmode. This is just straight up canon to me.
Drag Strip is also touchy, but in a different way. His arm slung around Breakdown's shoulders (which Breakdown is NOT pleased about 'stop it stop it now leave me alone go away stop touching me'), his arms resting on Dead End's head (Id like to think that Dead End is the shortest, and shorter than Drag Strip despite their altmodes because I think DS would constantly mock him about it, and, it makes me laugh), and so on and so fourth.
(In case you're curious, tallest to shortest is MM by a lot, BR, WR, then a gap between him and DS, and a gap between DS and DE. DE is up to DS' shoulder.)
And Scavenger? Maybe it's just me. Maybe. But we all know super he's clingy and needy, right?? His favorite past-time that doesn't involve digging or his object treasures (more on this in a different post later) would be being around his gestalt, and it's pretty easy to keep them around when you're clinging to them like a monkey. I also think that what I said previously for Scrapper and Hook can easily be replaced with Scavenger/Bonecrusher and Long Haul. Mixmaster too, if I'm being honest.
Hell, not even the COMBATICONS are not an exception to this. I'm sure a Combaticon fan can expand on this more accurately (please do this please i like seeing headcanons please), but I think that once they become aware of this.. PDA.. eugh.. they'd try to avoid doing it, but they're. Gestalt. There's nothing they can do to stop themselves from subconsciously doing it short of cutting the gestalt bonds in someway, and, unfortunately for them, they are not aware of this fact. They think they're doing a great job of acting normal, and while they are in the eyes of the average mecha, the other gestalts can see right through them.
ld like to expand on this for the Aerialbots too, but I'm not very Autobot Combiner pilled so it's hard. Sorry. I will say that they are no better than the Constructicons in this, though. They are always touching in some way. Especially Air Raid and Fireflight. They aren't always together, but it's still a mildbsurprise when you see one without the other. Clingy little bird bastards.
this was a really roundabout way to say these guys have separation anxiety
All fun and games in the meeting room until someone start deciding they're Bored and proceed to cause Mayham.
God help us all...
Little Facts about them? :3
Below the cut!
- Onslaught is the eldest (40), Scattershot is the youngest (23)
- Megaempress is the tallest, she's around 6'7ft tall. (Tall lady :3)
- it's a common rule to not hand Hot Spot firearms, he might look harmless and act Harmless but Dear god let's not give the overly energetic Puppy a Loaded gun.
- Pyra Magna is one of the only Commanders that Joined the Organization while already in her 20s.
- we dont talk about what happened in Vos HQ, We NEVER talked about it but if someone ask all we say is... Hun-Grrr was Involved and he was not caged.
- Scrapper and Motormaster doesn't wear Armor (Scrapper does wear the Helmet though aside from that his uniform is plain fabric)
- Motormaster is BANNED from going anywhere near Air force or anything that flies in general. (except Silverbolt but that's already on thin line)
- Onslaught once got so mad he start speaking in russian, No one understands him at all except for Silverbolt who actually takes time to study Other Languages aside from English and or his native Language... IT WAS IN THE PROTOCOL GUYS, READ THE FUCKING BOOK.
- Most of these guys might be reliable, but they Do tend to ignore protocols... Like Learn more than 2 language for better understanding when talking to a different people in different nation, or Please for god Stop using Organization's Funds for something as stupid as renting a whole ass Mansion to play Paintball guns.
- Scattershot is rarely even present among them, No one knows where Scattershot often go they just know he existed... At some point lmao.
- ONSLAUGHT IS AN ENABLER FOR HOT SPOT, DO NOT PUT THEM IN ONE ROOM WITHOUT PROPER SUPERVISION (Proper supervision that are recommended: Scrapper, Only him could talk them down)
- Hot Spot, Motormaster, Scattershot, Hun-Grrr are Menaces. The Organization has Child leashed on each one, sometimes they have one for Megaempress too if she decide to drop kick a man's nuts in public just for 'Shit and giggles'.
- no... We dont trust Pyra Magna to be responsible.
- And we dont trust Silverbolt either
- the only one trusted to be responsible in any chaotic situation is Scrapper
- ... Not even Onslaught is trustworthy, he's an enabler for one of the Force of nature (Hot Spot)
- Scattershot is Banned from licking anything he guessed as 'Poison'. He know it's poison, we know it's poison, Scattershot please stop Consuming Poison or toxin, It's not funny the last time you gave Wheeljack a Heart attack when you chug that bottle of radioactive Mud. You survive doesn't mean you will the next time you do it!
- Megaempress must be at least 5 feet apart from any man she just met, and must be child leashed, Last time she met a new Men that joined the organization that guy got kicked in the nut
- Megaempress still does it to Megatron sometimes, we just assume she hates him... Apparently she just finds it funny.
- the other Commanders used Silverbolt electric ability to charge their phones, please stop doing this... Silverbolt isn't your personal charger even if it's very tempting.
how the combined form's personality happens: the best trait from each of their components is "copied" into a "base" personality. the combined form itself doesn't "wake up" (become aware/sentient) until the first combination, which is when the "base" is activated and the combiner can start figuring out who they are.
three types of combiners: naturalborn, enigmaborn, and whatever monstructor was in idw1.
naturalborn: forged sparks that are extremely close in proximity for an extended period of time, sometimes all the way from first sparking to forming their bodies. sometimes have splitsparks. very rare, very precious, and very often considered sacred. In human terms, these sparks would be considered identical or fraternal multiples (triplets, quadruplets, etc). highest track record for stable combined form personalities, due to naturalborn combiners having the gestalt bonds all their lives.
enigmaborn: as the name suggests, these are combiners formed by the enigma of combination. in this method the enigma is in charge of choosing the traits for the base, and will do its' very best to make a stable personality. Since anyone from complete strangers to enemies to family can be affected by the enigma and become a combiner, this can be a difficult or downright impossible task. the best way to ensure a planned enigmaborn combiner is given the best start for their base is by meticulously and rigorously testing the compatibility and willingness to work together by an all-consenting team.
monstructor was made up of bots who were consenting, but were not given the level of compatibility testing enigmaborn teams received. and with a purely science-based method - without any knowledge that traits are specifically chosen for the base - things went. . . sideways. the way the bonds were made ended up allowing the components' individual personalities start blending together. the more they combined the more they became obsessed with doing it, and the more they lost their individualness. with proper understanding of the enigma and input from naturalborn and enigmaborn components, a combiner that has proper bonds would have a chance to function just like the others.
got a little rambly there at the end. posting this late at night. might edit it tomorrow if i remember and i can rephrase my thoughts on what Monstructor's like in my headcanons. . .
if anyone has thoughts or questions feel free to ask, i love thinking about how combiners work, both combined and as component teams
