PGC Director Lili Thompson shares one clever way to get open against an aggressive defender. 🎓🏀
Flexibility is important both in mind and body. Flexibility of the body helps with balance, helps one to achieve full range of motion, and also can help to prevent injury and back pain. A flexible mind helps one go throughout their day with less stress and the ability to learn new things. Yoga brings both into one’s life. So join me @lucentyoga on Saturday at 4:30pm to become more nimble in your life.
Although it can be brutal when it hits the 90’s, the warm weather helps open the body for deeper stretches. One of my favorite poses to teach in the summer months is Hanumanasana, aka the Splits, because the heat allows even the stiffest of students to find some version. Join me on Tuesday at 9:30am @lucentyoga to get super long and smiley.
Half Bound Lotus, aka Ardha Baddha Paschimottanasana, can be a very challenging pose for many people. Having both the chest and hip flexibility to actually get into the pose can take months and months of practice. Poses like this teach you patience. Unlike strength based poses like chaturanga, you are forced to wait for your body to open through consistent practice and only then will you be able to get your foot nestled correctly into your hip crease and your arm to be able to grab your big toe, and then finally will you be able to feel a deep stretch in your lower back and into your hips. You learn that sometimes when you feel discomfort from something new, instead of fleeing, go deeper, go back, again and again until the discomfort is replaced with happiness and ease. Join me Saturday at 4:30pm @lucentyoga and notice which poses challenge your boundaries, both physically and mentally.
“In winter, I plot and plan. In spring, I move.” - Henry Rollins Come move and breathe new life back into your body with me on Saturday at 4:30pm @lucent. Let go of your winter tensions so that the positive spring energy can fill you up. ✨
Ahhh, the amazing opening sensation of Sun Salutation B, aka Surya Namaskar B, makes me feel like I'm 10 feet tall. With this summer heat loosening our muscles and joints, it's a great time to see if you can go a bit deeper and get a bit longer in your poses. We will be exploring this idea in my 4:30pm Saturday class @lucentyoga. Get ready to feel expansive!
Matter without spirit is a corpse. Spirit without matter is a ghost." - Marion Woodman Yoga joins the body and mind, spirit and matter, so that they can function at their highest levels in harmony. By doing yoga you learn to tune into the small nuances of your body, and thus become more mindful of yourself, your actions and everything around you. Hence why so many gain so much personal growth through their practice. Join me on Wednesday and Thursday to explore this gorgeous practice and create a better affinity between your physical and spiritual selves.
