OH MY GREAT GRACIOUS GARRUS VAKARIAN. The part of ME3's Rannoch mission where you have to get past 3 Geth Primes, each with a Combat Drone and a Turret in an area with little cover (they're to the left, right and in front of you and you can't retreat)? I thought it was honestly going to be an Insanity run killer. I didn't have Tali's Sabotage specced properly so it lasted approximately .000117 seconds and half the time they were already locked onto me so it didn't help.

James and Tali died A LOT. Shep died even more.

I had some attempts that literally lasted 3 seconds.

I really didn't think anything was going to top ME2's Horizon and Collector Ship missions for low cover/lotta enemies/lawd have mercy on Shep's poor soul 'cause he dyin' lots 'n' lots. But this? This definitely did.

I'd stop and do research, I'd try different tactics. I tried rushing the Geth straight in front of me because I'd seen advice that it was easier to defend that area.

There's one coming at me from the top (first pic), two more (upper left corner of the second pic) are moving to flank me and that glowing bit hovering on the right is a dang turret that will shred me as soon as I move. This section was an hour of my life I'm never getting back, friends.

Except it was x3. UGH.

(That's Shep's head down at the bottom where I was crouched down and had opened the power wheel just to delay the inevitable as that Geth Prime is about to step around my paltry cover. I went out slinging powers and shooting at him but there was just no way to keep from being shredded with him right on me like that. Plus, look at all the red dots on my radar behind me. 😖)

BUT EVENTUALLY...

Let me tell you, I have never in my life been so glad to see no red dots on my radar and to hear Legion come over the comms and say there was no Geth presence detected. I can't even tell you how it finally happened. I think I just got a particular amount of luck with how well James and Tali did, plus got lucky with how I managed to juke around the Geth Primes with a ton of panic mixed with Big YOLO Energy™️🤷‍♀️😂😉

I dunno, maybe the game just finally took pity on me. It was 10,000 percent not skill, though, I can tell you that for sure, lol!

Here's where I'm at now (since even facing that Reaper 1v1 after this was a ton easier than this section, lol):

All side quests are done (though I'm realizing I somehow missed Conrad Verner, which seems to mean I just wasn't at the Docks at the right time, bummer) and everything else besides Priority: Earth is going to be skipped for now. Though I'm going to come back after I hopefully get the Insanity cheevo and do the Shore Leave DLC because YES. I just don't want to have to do it now as a prerequisite to being done on Insanity to get the achievement.

Was not able to get enough War Assets to get the Destroy-but-there's-hope ending, I don't believe. 🫤But that's okay because that wasn't what this run was about. I wanted to avoid any unnecessary combat and was willing to take whatever ending that meant I would get. Next full run will be as FemShep and we'll be doing things right and proper, since all achievements will be done!

Decided to play Mass Effect again. And I realized that I LOVE GETH SO MUCH. Really, I'd like to shake hands with those people who developed their concept!
