Chapter 8 of “Why We Stay” has been posted!

a fairly short chapter this time, but don’t underestimate it. It’s not called “The Beginning of the Storm” for nothing! From here on out, a lot of the puzzle pieces I’ve been dropping are going to start fitting together, so I hope you’re all as eager to see it come together as I am! So without further ado, here’s a sneak peek:

Keith paused, one leg in the bed. “Wait… you know Shiro, too?”

Lance didn’t answer.

“Lance, what’s going on? How can you know Shiro? He would’ve known your name. He would’ve… he would’ve told me.”

Something was clawing at his heart. Something dark. Something that felt alarmingly close to doubt.

He stared hard at Lance, trying to read something, anything in his expression that would give him answers. Something that would unravel the mystery, push aside all of these confusing emotions in his head and let him rest.

What Keith got was a black hole opening up in his wall.

ok i've been stuck reading your lance died stories and crying abt them for like 3 hours and i had an idea spur from the depth of my mind: what if lance accidentally finds out he can possess the gladiator bots? not for a long time, but he just can? and at first he freaks out bc hey this is super weird and then he kind of thinks abt how this might be how he can help around the caslte as a ghost, cleaning rooms and stuff

I like the idea, so we’ll see. I already have a lot planned for the little series so far, so we’ll have to wait and see where those take the story for now, I’m not sure where it’d be able to be interpreted into the story so far.

I'm thinking about the ghost!Lance Au and my mind is just like What if he talks to Allura through Blue?

Ok but can I use the Ghost! Lance prompt? I really like the idea, it's really creative and I really want to write about how he'd communicate with the others- what's powers he'd have; eventually he slowly reveals himself to each Paladin- but only after a bit of pranking.

I don’t have a problem with that, I’d love it actually! I love seeing other people’s takes on the wack prompts I come up with when tired, seeing how different the direction they take it is to what direction I ended up taking it.
