life good, life pretty, take moment to experience - look at flower, look at picture of animal, look at picture of space, listen to bird, experience joy and peace for one moment

What are some new stuff that you plan on adding to your metal girl au?

not sure if you meant like, big plot stuff, but here's some little things i've got so far:

- lake takes a music class their freshman year and they frequently stay after school to get extra lessons from ryan (who's the music teacher at their school). turns out, lake is really good at guitar, and they love playing it

- they write a bit of music now and then, once they've learned how to play well enough.

- lake will not play guitar upon request (well, maybe there's a tiny exception for jesse, if he's extra nice.) for a while while learning, they would kill anyone who listened to them play, except jesse, tulip, and of course mr. akagi. they say it's out of a desire for privacy and to keep them focused while learning, which is partially true, but it's mainly embarrassment/self-consciousness

- jesse has adhd and frequently utilizes the same designated-special-ed-spaces at school that lake does

- on that note, they both have 504 plans and are using their "504 room," which is just a specific room with 504 counselors that students with those accommodations can use as much as they need (that's what we had at my school, they might call it something else in other places.)

- also! they're both medicated. lake is unaware of the fact that psych meds aren't just for people in mental hospitals and stuff so they feel pretty insecure about it and don't tell anyone. one time they accidentally mention it in front of jesse and get really frustrated, and jesse's just like "dude i take meds for my brain too. it's like, totally normal" which blows lake's mind, just a little (i might be projecting a bit here, since i'm weirdly insecure about my own adhd and anxiety/depression meds and i still don't know why, lol.)

here’s some recent sketches :3

it’s predominantly xmen stuff with a couple other superheroes sprinkled in

most of these were drawn on the sides of my class notes (which may be why my grades look the way they do), hence the collage-like pasting that you see in this sketchbook

that also means that most art here has been done without reference, and I also don’t have great visual memory, so characters kinda just get what they get when I draw them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(I do hope theres some visible improvement from the november drawings to the march ones as far as recognizing character features goes though)

anyways! lots of xmen evolution inspired designs (especially of kurt and vic) bc thats my favorite xmen cartoon, but I've got some other cartoon, movie, and comic inspired designs scattered around-

hope the image quality holds up decently- always a bit difficult to judge whether traditional art will survive a shaky picture and tumblr image compression, but I still wanna archive this somewhere, so! yay!

oh also- if anyone ends up deciphering my scribbled notes around these characters, no you haven't <3

was in a media store with my mom yesterday & looking at the comics they had when she pointed up at a cyclops action figure and asked “isn’t that your guy?” and like- yeah :]

he’s one of many, but absolutely he’s my special little guy :3

I found Scott Summers himself on jeopardy reddit- apparently he could’ve brought it up, but decided against it lol,, seems like a cool dude though :]

anyways uhhh- yeah I got a bit too invested in it, but it’s fun that a few ppl made this connection

always lovely when nerds are also geeks 😌

if anyone ever wants to talk about xmen and/or jeopardy I will never not be in the mood for that
