Day 29/30: Closing Time

A brief list of all the places that I frequented in my 20′s which have now closed. 

Yaffa Cafe

Cafe Edison

Every diner in my neighborhood

Jekyll & Hyde 

Gawker, Gothamist, and DNAinfo

Tiny Fork, which I think we put out of business with the free drinks we were given (nights of them, it feels like)

That place that just had pigs in a blanket

Multiple Bro J’s locations

The original Vynl 

The awful Vietnamese place I worked in (which was run by white men)

The OG Empanada Mama

This BS biscuit place that I screamed at one night

Vandaag (one of the first places I loved & lost) 

Cover, the app that kept me fed with fancy food (and also, just fed in general) for over a year

Yunnan BBQ (RIP best michelada ever)

This truly insane place where I once texted my parents “if I die from eating steak tartar in this entirely empty restaurant tonight please avenge me”

Les Halles

The best, fanciest soufflé place

Ella, where we danced and drank for free til dawn thanks to some aptly-placed friends

My favorite place to get a sidecar (it came with an actual “sidecar” made of a hollowed out lemon! 

King Bee, where I had the biggest oyster of my life

Schiller’s 

Winnie’s, where I tripped over my purse strap, flashed an entire birthday party of strangers, and spent $160 on shots to make everyone forget about it...I think I ended up with most of the shots, though.
