I was so enlightened...
Now I'm trying and trying and trying to remember and write about governor's honors program in a way that will make a difference and sort things out in my mind... and it's just not easy. How do you do such a program justice?

The Magic Square
I really thought the cliche "ghp is life changing" statement was nothing more than a generic statement that ghp alumni felt obligated to say to us. Boy, was I wrong. GHP did in fact-wait for it- change my life. The people I met have all touched my life in some way or another, taught me something new, opened my eyes to something, and made this experience so incredibly special. I can't even put into words how amazing this past month has been, but it's been the best summer of my life. I know I'm coming home different, and I cannot thank the therp and everyone at GHP enough. It's been fantastic. Each and every therp, as well as the people from other majors, has a special place in my heart. I love you all dearly. I cannot have imagined this experience with any better group of people. Thank you for all the tears, laughter, and memories. I can't and I won't ever forget them. I can't wait to see all of y'all again, you beautiful idiots. This is just our beginning.
thousands of pictures to come
Can I please go back home???
Stars and Stripes
I woke up at around 7:35 after that painful fire drill and threw on that cute white lace dress and hopped out the door. I saw James and Jordan at Palms. Jordan hair wasn’t a rainbow anymore-it was all black with a purple tint.
At majors, we had donuts and a singalong to America music, but my voice is so hopelessly gone because of the dehumidifier leeching the moisture from my throat that I just…

Lampshade or hat?
I forgot my soap when I went to shower in the morning… But I did have a nice little meditation session between GA and Langdale, which I suppose compensates. Class was the usual as Ken’s tend to be. We discussed the what makes a city survive and what makes it fail. In the next course, we discussed how economics played a role in Manifest Destiny, the Spanish American War and the Civil War. I do…

Occupy GHP
Just kidding, we aren’t occupying anything!
This morning I was almost late to class. Actually, I wasn’t, but Amber woke up at 6:30 yelling that we had to be out of the building in 10 minutes. Actually, we don’t have to be out until 7:40, but even after three of my hall mates tried to tell her we had plenty of time left, she insisted that we had to be out at 6:40. Finally, she realized that she…

So to finish up day 2… Cara loves looking at bugs and other creatures, unless of course they fly, so we took some pictures outside yesterday, and here’s what we put together! Other than that, I went for a quick 30 minute run and then ate some pasta and marinara sauce from the Dining Hall about 5 minutes before it closed before heading in for a shower.
When I went into my room to grab some food, I met Samhita again (the girl who’d helped me lower my bed) hanging out with Ankita. After a short group stretching session during which I almost did the yoga Wheel, I hopped in the shower, and then we went around to see what I could do about my henna. I brought about 10 cones because about 80 people told me they wanted me to apply it for them, so I’m doing it this Sunday out on the lawn. Should be exciting! I met RAs Kyle and Sam in Georgia Hall, where the boys all live. I’m in Langdale with all the girls, but we are allowed to be in one another’s lobbies. They wanted henna too, but I’m not allowed to apply it for them, but I might teach them how to do it!
I walked around for a bit with a new friend, Carter, and we listened to an impromptu jam session on West Lawn. I then went to a seminar Kyle was hosting where we played Heads Up! I saw Adam again with whom I’d eaten dinner the first night. I think we’re gonna be tight. We played until about 10 and then headed “home” for hall check. Ankita was almost late, poor darling was taking a nap, and I felt awful waking her up, but it had to be done! Earlier, actually, I had performed a spoken word for them, and they said I should film it. I REALLY want to I told them, so we might do it later!
During hall check, we told each other funny stories and got to know one another a little better, then I fiddled with my phone until lights out. I was just getting into bed when Amber came to wish us good night, but, of course, I couldn’t sleep because of the painfully loud de-humidifier that keeps turning on and off all day and night, so I turned on my phone to start some music, but at that second, Amber walked in and was obligated to confiscate it. I don’t think she’s angry at me–I rather like her actually. I think we’re pretty similar. But I’d likely get frustrated by me in a month, so I hope she’s more patient with me :).
Anyhow, imagine a blow drier and a hand drier blowing into your face at the same time (without the temperature, though it gets humid), that’s what I had to “sleep” with last night. I hope I’m soon to exhausted to be bothered. I think it’ll happen!
I also need to remember to pray on time. I can’t forget.

GHP 2012
Remember when I got to live at college without all the responsibility that comes with adulthood? Remember when I got to sing all morning & do theatre all afternoon with some of the most inspired people I've ever met? Remember when I feel in love with the only guy who has ever treated me like I was truly extraordinary? Remember when I was surrounded with love, laughter, & support every day for four whole weeks? All perfect things live only in our memories.
