As always, this Saturday was research day in majors, so Marilyn and I got together and made sure we knew what our plan of action was for the day and for the remainder of our project. We’ve decided on a subject finally. We’ll be comparing eastern versus western philosophies and doctrine on human rights over the past few thousand years in religion, politics and other movements. I ended up checking out another 12 books and piled them onto the growing stack on the desk in my dorm room. The topic is finally interesting me though, so I’m getting excited, and I thought of a great idea for our board and presentation.
Afterwards, I ate lunch and then sat on West Lawn for a while with Jordan and James and the two of them were practicing their back bends (which James is obsessed with now) when Jordan leaned backwards and then just fell on his head. The next day, James did the same thing, except he fell on his face. My boys… We couldn’t stop laughing needless to say… Then we went inside to take a quick shower so Jordan (a different one) could finally do my henna before the dance that night. After the shower, I went to grab some dinner and happened to sit across from Jordan who was full of sass and said that I should definitely be Cleopatra that night because I was such a princess. Well, ya know me…
Anyhow, later on West Lawn with a large group of people including Adam, Aaron, Alex, Jordan, Shelby, Kelso, Carter and more, Jordan gave me an ankh on my shoulder and then I gave Adam (who kept apologizing for the burden) and Aaron some on their arms. Somewhere during this time, Kelso went over to James to help him with his backbend, so he’d be able to flip himself over, and he kicked her in the face, which resulted in a nosebleed and a couple hours of her and Alex leaving to get her patched up. Jordan and Adam had a few comments on that regard. Then there was a little conversation regarding why straight boys don’t wear tight underwear? I don’t pretend to understand this, but it was hilarious nevertheless for reasons I probably shouldn’t put on the internet.
I went to get ready for the dance at this point, and when I got to Langdale, I saw Haidi, and she helped me put my outfit together. She left, and I put on my makeup all blue and gold-like and headed out. The theme this time around was Late-Great–basically famous dead people.More than anything, I was just in it for the outfit and pictures, which is what I got out of it. I also met Noah and Olivia properly, and we talked for a while with Mitchell before finally heading inside. I didn’t see James, and later found out that he’d been journaling in his room. I did, however, see Peter who was dressed as a fabulous zombie drag queen and Kyle who was originally someone Greek, but ended up as God. There were also a multitude of Amy Winehouses, Bob Marleys, Michael Jacksons, and especially a plethora of Cleopatras (including me) and Audrey Hepburns.

“dancing…” No but they were actually dancng in this one.
That night, after hall check, we had a s’mores party. I absolutely love my hallmates, have I ever mentioned that? Well I should. First the sarenade to Amber, and now this? Perfect. I also made myself some spicy Ramen, but wasn’t able to finish it before lights out, so it ended up sitting in front of my room all night till I woke up in the morning and was able to clean the bowl. Sadly, I had to throw out all the food in it. Moral of the story, give myself more time for it to cool off next time around.
