reason for detention(s). a political debate on the correctness of the potions textbook with snape was… well… not a debate. you thought you were approaching him respectfully with your public speaking skills to stand up for yourself and all of the other students who followed the potions textbook’s instructions and did not get the intended potion (like wtf is that sludge this is supposed to be a love potion??)… but snape just gave you a detention for it and told you all to try actually reading the instructions.
