With the walls of the Vault pressing in this close, Glabe would take anything. She would take stowing away on a cargo ship across the Pacific, she would take huddling inside an old barn for warmth in the middle of winter, she would take sitting at the table with her children, she would take the cramped bedroom she shared with her sisters as a child.

She would take anything that is not her own reflection staring back at her from the icy, translucent walls of the glacier that holds her now. But there is no escaping it; she’s tried everything, bending and stretching and building out her body beyond anything she’s ever done before.
