Donatello x FeistyFemNerd!reader one shot
Headcannons for all the turtles here
Not proofread yall, mb, I ain’t got time for allat.
Donnie is such a flipping dork, it also doesn’t help that he’s head over heels for you, and I mean, holy shit, freaking in love. I’m a tried and true wholehearted believer that every single version of Donnie is head over heels for you at first sight. It’s instantaneous, like he’s struck by lightning, but I think specifically Bay!Donnie has that zing moment when he first meets you, and then he slowly realizes that he actually is in love with you because of your personality. Like ‘oh wow the most beautiful girl I’ve ever met!’ Slowly transitions into ‘oh wow, the most beautiful, smart, kind, loving amazing woman I’ve ever seen ever in the history of ever’. And he’s just the most analytical guy you’ve ever met, so obviously it’s the small things he sees that draws him in. Y’all see what I’m getting at??
You were neighbors with April O’Neal. A sweet girl really, she was always pleasant to talk to whenever you had the chance to strike up a conversation. One conversation led to another, and another, which led to brunch dates, that led to girls nights, which led to sleepovers, you get the gist of it.
One day, you were sitting on April’s couch, her clothes on as you were too lazy to run back to your room down the hall to fetch yours. It was late, maybe 12ish. The only light on was a dim, warm, lamp in the corner of the room. April excused herself momentarily, running to the bathroom, trying not to miss the show you’d both been watching for the past few weeks. “I’ll be right back, I have to pee so bad oh my gosh.” She said, her voice disappeared as she traveled down her long hallway. You sat on the couch quietly, gazing at the screen with half lidded eyes as you started to feel tired, your glasses threatening to slip off. You perked up at what you thought was a bird at the window, glancing over at the large balcony area only to be met with a large, green, masked figure inside Aprils apartment, his tri-fingered hands working to close the window as best as possible.
The creature sighed and began to walk towards Aprils Kitchen, paying you no mind as it looked at hologram figures and models on its little wrist watch. “Hey April, I wanted to show you this new little algorithm I’m working on for Mikey’s birthday!” The creature said gleefully as he rummaged through the cabinets, grabbing your strawberry pop-tarts and opening a pack without a care in the world. “He’s actually been surprisingly responsible with the prototype watch I gave him last month so I’m going to upgrade him and there will be tons of new perks, I just wanted your approval first, or maybe even suggestions, I don’t know yet.” He said, swiping away on his watch with the half opened pop tarts, your pop tarts, in his hand. He rounded the island in the middle after closing the cabinet and went to approach you. He looked up momentarily, looking at your face, before glancing at his watch, then freezing in place, and looking at you again. This entire time you’ve just been frozen in your spot on the couch, obviously he wasn’t hostile, and he clearly knew April well enough to sneak into her house unannounced and rummage through her kitchen. He actually sounded a lot like you. But he was also green…and like seven foot tall…and…clearly not human…
You stood in an unfamiliar silence for maybe five seconds. Maybe he realized you weren’t screaming, or freaking out, or that his wide eyes had been starring at you for far too long. Both his arms slowly dropped to his side before he spoke. “You’re…not April.” He said sheepishly. You didn’t respond. Eyes still wide, and you were a bit freaked out still, but as you’ve already come to the conclusion beforehand, he wasn’t dangerous. You sat up more to face him properly. “Those are my pop tarts.” You say stand-offishly. He frowns, looks at the pop tarts in his hand and then back at you, the disbelief prominent on his face.
You were both suddenly interrupted by the closing of a door, but the noise still didn’t break your intense starring contest. “Hey sorry I changed into comfier clothes-HOLY SHIT DON’T FREAK OUT PLEASE,” April said, realizing you and Donnie were in the same room together.
After that, you and Donnie got to know each other pretty well. He’d visit you in April’s apartment from time to time, which led to him meeting you in your apartment, which led to you meeting his family…let’s just say, it wasn’t the warmest of welcomes you’ve ever had.
“Are you fucking kidding me Donatello!” Yelled, who you assumed was Raphael from what Donnie had described. The angry Red one. “Another Human?! Are you sick in the head! April is family,” Raphael said as he held up one of his fingers. “Then there’s our Pizza guy,” he said holding up another finger. “And then there’s Casey, that’s it!! You see how I’m outta fingers!! Because that’s all we need! Hell, even having Casey around is sorta pushing it with his loud ass mouth, and here you are wanting to bring another chick in here!” He yelled harshly, Donnie’s face contorting in frustration. You remembered how Donnie talked about how much Raphael’s temper got on his nerves. And it got in your nerves too. “I’m not a ‘chick’.” You mumbled under your breath as you crossed your arms and looked away unamused. “What did you say woman?” Raphael said suddenly, drawing your attention back to him. “I said I’m not a ‘chick’, and I’m not ‘Woman’ either, my name is *Name*.” You stated frustratedly. Raphael huffs and starts towards you, earning a ‘whoa!’ From the youngest one, Michelangelo, or Mikey, who held a hand out to stop Raphael in his path. You’d met Mikey before, he’s actually the reason you’re here in the first place. He’d visited you at your apartment with Donnie once, then he subsequently let it slip that you existed, hence why you’re standing in the middle of their lair, in front of all his brothers.
“Listen Donnie, Raph is right, we can’t keep exposing ourselves to humans like this, it’s dangerous!” Exclaimed Leonardo in a much calmer tone. You remembered how Donnie talked about him and how much you could tell he looked up to his older brother, which is why it hurt your heart to see Donnie shy away from his brother words. “Listen, Leo, I know. But she’s not just some human!” He says as he tries to defend you. “If it, um, puts any ease to your mind, I promise I won’t tell a soul.” You say, addressing Leonardo, trying to seem respectful and gain his trust. You really wouldn’t tell anyone, Donnie was such an amazing friend, you wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize your bond. Hell you’d known Donnie for almost a year now, it’s not like you’re some girl he brought here after a week or two.
“Shut up lady, you don’t even know what you’re dealing with, this isn’t just some personal mantra, nobody can know we exist!! Everyone wants to kill us!! Do you understand that!?” He yelled in your face incredulously as he pointed a finger in your face, interrupting your conversation with Leonardo. It pissed you off. You slapped his hand out of your face, earning a surprised look from his face. “I know that Dipshit!!” The lair went dead silent “I’m not just some hobo off the road! I know much more than what you’re making it seem like I do! Which really pisses me off!” You yell back, matching his tone. His face was angry, but surprised. Donnie said that no one really stood up to him, except Leonardo, which is why they fought so often. “I get it that you’ve been wronged by people but that doesn’t mean you need to be at my damn throat about it!” You say, pointing a finger up in his face, trying to give him a taste of his own medicine. Silence followed as you calmed down. You nudge up your glasses that had fallen down a bit due to your yelling, taking a deep breath. You didn’t catch it, but Donnie’s eyes were just filled with awe. This was his first time seeing you like this, obviously you’d play fought with him and April, but he’d never seen you this pissed off before.
Suddenly a large bang was heard, a door slamming. All four of the brother’s heads snapped towards the noise. A short, rather frail looking rat walked into your view. Master splinter. “What is all of this yelling about!” His booming voice echoed through the concrete tunnels. The turtles immediately lined up horizontally beside you, followed by them all bowing in unison. You skittishly follow suit, nervously peeking upwards as Splinter rushes towards you, gently but firmly grabbing your chin to look into your eyes. “Now who could you be.” He said inquisitively as his bushy eyebrows furrowed. “I-I’m *Name*, sir. Mister. Sensei?” You said, tossing the titles around aimlessly as if you were trying to find the right one, earning a small snort from Donnie before he was silenced by the whip of Splinters tail against his leg. “Would someone care to tell me why *Name* in our home?” Inquired Splinter. “Sensei,” started Raphael as he rose from his bow, the others following suit. “Donnie thought it would be a good idea to bring his ‘friend’ here.” He said smugly, putting emphasis on how untrustworthy he thought you were. “Don’t say it like that.” You scoff out at Raphael. “Mr. Splinter, sir,” you fumble out sheepishly before continuing. “I’m a good friend of Donatello, I would say. I’ve known him for a while and we both came to the conclusion that it wasn’t wise, safe, or right to keep me a secret from you and your family any longer. So I came here to introduce myself.” You end sharply, Splinters eyes softening, letting out a sigh, you couldn’t tell if it was relief or just exhaustion from dealing with the boys antics. “You’re no Danger.” He said in a calm voice. “You have a bond with my son, therefore you’ll have a bond with me. Come by when we’ll have more time for a full introduction.” He said before swiftly turning to Donnie, cupping his face with his tail harshly. “As for you, to the Hashi!” Earning a groan from Donnie and an array of reactions from his brothers
That was around half a year ago. You were much more welcome in the lair now, you and Raph had put aside your differences and were actually pretty cool now. He’d been working with you on how to quote unquote ‘protect yourself’ because “we live in NYC and you’re a lady, and I’d hate this lair even more if I had to listen to Donnie mourn you.” You and Leo found solace with each other throughout the chaos which was that of the lairs atmosphere by meditating together. He’d become a very good friend of yours after a better introduction than the first time you’d all met. And as for Mikey, he was like the little brother you’d always wished for. Participated in his little fake videos where you tried his horrible food concoction smoothies on the terms where he wouldn’t put anything that was considered biological warfare, which you’re not entirely sure he follows half the time. And as for Donnie, you didn’t even know where to begin. You helped him with his projects, stayed up till the asscrack of dawn with him just talking about nothing in particular, and so much more. Donnie was definitely who you were closest to, in a not so normal way as well. You were naturally a clingy person, but not in the way were you’d blow up his T-phone with texts, or demand his attention 24/7, no you were clingy in a way that rubbed off on him as well. The type of clingy where you both slept oddly close to one another, where you shared food without the other having to ask for it, where you could hold a conversation without even saying a word.
You and Donnie were oddly entangled with each other, in a way where it was kind of blurred what exactly your relationship was. Situation-ship was way too dull of a term, and complicated wasn’t the right word either, you both knew what you were to each other. Maybe, selectionally oblivious was the right word? You’d dull down the lingering touches and the intimate little moments, but you still knew they were there. In an odd way it all ended up working out though.
You were sitting on Donnie’s work bench, carefully removing tiny screws from a circuit board that was just too much of a challenge for Donnie with his larger hands. Periodically typing away on your laptop on your shared notes document while a ‘beginners course in electrical circuits’ video played in the ear that wasn’t facing Donnie. Music from an old stereo mounted on a wall flowed through the confined space. He sat in his swivel chair with his elbows resting beside you, one of them resting slightly against your thigh to steady his arm as he worked on soldering some copper wires together. He huffed out in frustration once, then again, then again. You were just about to ask him if he was okay, but he spoke before you could. “I like you.” He said sternly with his eyebrows furrowed as he sat down his tools, his eyes not meeting yours. You paused, processing what he actually just said. “What?” You asked. “I like you, *Name*.” He said, still not looking at you. “I can’t focus cause I’ve been thinking about it too much so I figured just saying it outright would help me focus.” He said, his demeanor turning shyer by the second. You swiftly set down what you were working on to lean over and pull him closer to your face by his plastron, his eyes widening as he’s jerked just mere centimeters to your face. “You better not be fucking with me Donatello.” You say firmly as your cheeks blush bright red. “I-I’m not I swear.” He squeaks out. You then swiftly bring him into a deep kiss that lasts a few seconds, your glasses clacking together. You pull away, leaving Donnie’s glasses crooked and his eyes wide as he looks at you in disbelief. “Good, because I’m tired of pretending I don’t like you.”
