The mun has a character that’s supposed to make use of a blinding flash of light. You’d be amazed at how difficult it is to find something that only does that. This one is kinda like glitterdust.

Long, 10 ft. radius burst, Reflex partial
Creatures in the area are blinded for 1d4 rounds (successful save dazzled instead). Evil creatures take 1d4 damage per caster level (max 5d4), even if they fail the save.
If you’re looking for a blinding effect primarily, take glitterdust: it will match this spell’s maximum duration automatically (and then get longer) and darkness can’t counter it. Blindness is an excellent condition to apply (it incapacitates most foes) and the longer the duration, the better (so you can concentrate on other enemies first). There aren’t many blinding effects that have a longer duration (or even as long of one) as glitterdust.
That said, the faerie fire rider requires prediction (or a casting of see invisibility) to be of use. It’s mainly there so that the rest of your party can see things only you would otherwise see.
By contrast, burst of radiance is more useful outside of the blindness. It is one of the few 2nd-level AoEs you get, but it has a fairly good shape (10 ft. radius ball) and excellent range, making it effectively a lower-level fireball. However, it trumps fireball in two regards: its damage is typeless and it doesn’t allow a saving throw against the damage; unless an evil creature has protection from good or similar on it, it will take the damage. In an ordinary campaign, a large plurality (if not an outright majority) will be evil, so it’s like you got fireball a spell level early and without having to worry too much about energy resistance. Finally, you get more damage dice than a Rogue’s Sneak Attack until 11th level (if of a lower die type); if you find you need to do more damage, there are other spells you can find.
If you could use Innate Spell on spells of greater than 1st level, this would be a fantastic candidate for the feat.
