I've been thinking about JiuHuo rescently, specifically about the infamous Qin Jiu line:

"I'm not here to save you, I'm here to love you."

I just think it's such a beautiful way to sum up their relationship and what they mean to each other.

You Huo didn't need saving, he had it all figured out. He wasn't buying the System's bullshit, he and Chu Yue were already planning a way out and how to take it down. Even if Qin Jiu didn't appear, You Huo would have tried many times to escape and destroy the System. That's not what Qin Jiu was for.

Qin Jiu also wasn't someone who is supposed to save You Huo from loneliness or his bad childhood. You Huo had friends, he was never truly alone. The bond that he and Chu Yue share is so deep and so special to him (him and Qin Jiu literally ran to her room after waking up and seeing each other when everything was over, because they were so worried for her). And he has put his childhood behind. Of course there are memories that still hurt him and affect him but he knew when to seperate the past and move on. He doesn't let that hurt affect him much in his day to day life (besides his eyes).

No Qin Jiu's role is neither of those. He's there to simply love You Huo. To love him in an unconditional way, in an unexpected way, in a meaningless way. There was no reason for Qin Jiu to fall for him or vice versa, it simply happened. They didn't need to have a big understanding of each other or some life changing event for that love to blossom, their souls just simply found each other and they never let go. They were each other's missing piece. You Huo just needed his love and to give that love back in return. And that's exactly what Qin Jiu offers.

He supports him, he joins him in his madness, shares his madness, all of that simply because he loves him.

actually mad and curious as to why ranwan or any other meatbun ship didn't rank in top #100 ships of 2026 i LOOOOOOVE ranwan and many people on tumblr do as well, so i was really really surprised. like are MXTX novels the only ones that exist? I LOVE MEATBUN'S books and i do understand why some people wouldn't like her works (bcs they deal with very heavy themes like non-con, c*nnibalism, s*lf harm, age-gap, etc, etc. check TWs) but please if you want to read HEAVY DETAILED ANGST, SOOOO MUCH YEARNING, EMOTIONAL DAMAGE and want to cry your heart out pls pls pls check out meatbun's works - remnants of filth/yuwu (friends to enemies to lovers, politics, misunderstandings, AMAZING side characters, a loooot of angst, older uke younger seme), the husky and his white cat shizun/erha/2ha (shizun-disciple, 10 y age gap older uke younger seme, non-con, dub-con, two lifetimes of angst, misunderstandings and a fuckton of mutual pining, redemption arc) and case file compendium/bab (older doctor uke younger patient seme, non-con, dub-con, misunderstandings, both of them are su*cidal, sci-fi elements, a LOOT of emotional damage, unreliable narrator)

if you are a manhwa reader and have read codename anastasia, roses and champagne, jinx, then you will surely enjoy case file compendium (its for the toxic yaoi fans, its UNHINGED lmaooo), erha and yuwu are historical wuxia with very, very, very, detailed angst and yearning. personally i believe that yuwu has even more angst than erha, it also DOESN'T have the usual meatbun themes of non-con, dub-con, and 10/10+ years age gap (older uke/younger seme) i think i cried over 20 times throughout all 7 volumes of yuwu. I URGE Y'ALL TO READ ANYTHING BY MEATBUN (check TWs and don't read if you are triggered by the themes) i want you guys to try reading erha and if you are understandably disgusted by how dumb/disgusting mo ran is, pls pls stick around till atleast vol 3 i promise your opinion is SURE to change. yuwu is meatbun's MOST underrated work by far, and also her BEST. please, please read it. (NO dub-con/non-con, 4 y age gap)

some other recommendations too if you want to read danmei that are plot heavy, full of yearning (not MXTX or meatbun) - disabled tyrant's beloved pet fish, three hundred years of longing, sha po lang/stars of chaos, ballad of sword and wine, after the disabled god of war became my concubine, how to survive as a villain (check TWs), little mushroom (this is a masterpiece), thousand autumns, guardian, global examination, married thrice to a salted fish, golden terrace, panguan, joyful reunion, legend of exorcism, peerless.

this post was made to bring your attention to danmei that are not written by MXTX bcs those are the only ones that usually catch people's attention, perhaps bcs of the immense popularity that The Untamed gained (no hate ofc, its one of my fav shows of all time) but i wanna see more asian media, more danmei ships in the top 100 ships list of tumblr other than just bingqiu, hualian, wangxian. pls pls pls read more asian media y'all.
