Artepunk is a gnc identity for people who are connected to femininity and is related from the term, "girl interrupted syndrome" It refers to feminine people who struggle with their expressions of femininity due to pressure to conform to other's ideas of "traditional" femininity. Leaning on the idealization of their lives and rejection of boxes femininity is often put into, often leaning into femininity in a reclaimed sense, making it our own and not in the control of our oppressors. This also includes feeling and experiencing things deeply to the point that it may be overwhelming and struggling with metal illness and or mental health issues.
The term Artepunk comes from the Greek goddess Artemis, and is pronounced: ART-EE-PUNK. Artemis is the goddess of the hunt, moon, and general independence. Having queer, protective, and feminine roots. Artemis is related to feminine refuge and safety to be themselves exactly however they need to be, without the pressure of being one way or another and or the constant ridicule and criticism from others.
You do not have to identify as a woman to identify with this label, it is a relation to the abstract idea of femininity, particularly the rejection of constrained ideas and the reclaiming of femininity on your terms. Any gender identity and sexuality can relate to this idea. :)
