It's been a point made in multiple comics over the years that some people at Arkham want Batman to be committed there, and even having a cell saved for him in The Batman's Grave series. It got me thinking, what if, through more dubious means, that he was forcibly committed there, and he had to escape? Perhaps he was framed for a crime he didn't commit, or (like that one BTAS episode) was under the influence of something that caused him to act out of character, causing him to end up there? Idk, I just think it'd be interesting if he was stuck there for a while.
(Not that I think he couldn't escape or anything, he absolutely could. I mean, in Shadow of the Bat: The last Arkham he does escape Arkham after being put there, but he was only faking insanity so he could deal with the events of that story)
Everyone is cursed, a plan to turn everyone against Bruce.
Bruce gets committed, forced into Arkham. He was there in his youth, he knows they want to do worse to him this time.
He has one chance to escape, one call to get a visitor. By some miracale, they answer his call, and turn up at Arkham, glaring at him on the other side of the divider, satisfaction glistening in their eyes seeing his shackles.
He has one chance to get out.
He plies on their love for him, knowing they are the only person whose conditioning he has any hope of breaking, and begs them to get him out, they'll leave together, us versus them.
Slowly, the hatred fades, replaced by a confusion at the conflicting realities.
"Bruce..."
"Please."
They agree, and when darkness falls, Arkham's escape sirens blare through the night, and Bruce sneaks away under their watchful gaze.
Who loves him enough to break through the curse?
I want "Dream flinging himself against the bars of his cage" content
Was his offer just another torment, a sliver of hope to go mad chasing?
