Bastet, She Who Protects Pen and ink on paper 30x42 cm

New art offering for goddess Bastet/Bast. She is associated with cats due to later Egyptian iconography. Her role is that of a powerful protector of the home and nurturer. Think of how important cats were in ancient times for hunting and killing disease-ridden mice in homes and crops.

She symbolizes the more benevolent and tame side of Sekhmet, the lioness. Together with Hathor, all 3 goddesses share the epithet 'Eye of Ra', denoting their solar nature.

Bastet is also associated with sensuality, festivities and joy. During the Egyptian New Year small cat statues were exchanged between households.

i don't really interact much with paganblr, but I am 1000% certain of this: if you use an ai art generator to make so-called devotional art out of computer slop--- a computer which cannot think, cannot feel, certainly cannot worship--- furthermore slop which poisons and pollutes the very Earth that all pagans should hold dear--- if you use an ai art generator for devotional art, you are actually insulting the gods, the Earth, and all the ancestors

in short: pick up a fucking pencil and draw stuff yourself, the meanest and sloppiest stick figure surrounded by cartoon flowers is superior to any garbage that a machine spits out

I know she came in last on the poll, but this might be the design I'm most excited about. Who could've guessed, beautiful goddesses are fun to draw 😅

I really wanted to lean into the pearl and rose symbolism as well as making her different to other artist renditions of Aphrodite that I've seen. I'm really proud of how the artwork came out. I hope you all like her too.
