The One Detail Driving Me Mad

I am telling y'all, the one thing about Nocturne season 2 that is driving me mad right now is this: Olrox calls the demon who apparently has gifted Emmanuel the night creature machine both "Mephistopheles" and "Old Man Coyote".

And the fricking implication of this!

Because what Olrox implies here is that Mephistopheles is the same character as Old Man Coyote. Just for reference: Coyote obviously a trickster character from a variety of North American mythologies. Mephistopheles meanwhile is the character Fausts makes his doomed pact with.

And are you implying now that in this universe those two characters are the same?

And mind you, if we are on it: There is a lot of anthropological spitballing going on about the fact that Reynard/Reinecken (aka the fox of European folklore) is also kinda the same character as Coyote, as he definitely serves the same role.

And this is driving me INSANE right now.
