One of my favorite parts of Network Effect is how above anything else, Three was having a deeply weird day. Sure, it was life-threatening, and the first day of freedom for it, and likely its first experience with people that cared for it (even as little as "if I let you get killed I am going to disappoint my friend), but above all else it was just... Bizarre? That poor SecUnit did not have a damn clue what was happening the entire time, it was just rolling with it all "this might as well happen"
#Three has been criminally underappreciated as far as I've seen (which is not very far tbf!)#the murderbot diaries#tmbd#I am begging Martha Wells to write more of Three#but seriously#I love the way it kept grounding itself with the little it could understand#“alright，this is a hostage/rescue situation，I know how to handle those. doesn't matter that we're rescuing a SecUnit?!?，this is fine”#and it really did handle the parts it couldn't understand remarkably well#it's interesting to think about how both it and Murderbot kept the status quo (in a sense) when they gained their freedoms#it's just that the status quo for Murderbot when it freed itself was doing nothing and the status quo for Three was actively saving lives#I'm not sure where I'm doing with this except to say that I love Three#going*#what a character
