Good caretaker moments

"Where did you get that scar?" "It's from a knife."

Whumpee flinching when touched on the wrist. Caretaker realizing that they had manacles on so long, they're just used to having bruises there

"I'm sorry, I'm not trying to trigger you, I just wanted to know what happened. Maybe if you tell me it'll be easier for me not to scare you again."

Sick Whump

Edit as needed, add "reverse" if desired!

[whisper] - Sender whispers soothingly to a feverish receiver as receiver tries to sleep.

[check] - Sender puts the back of their hand on receiver's forehead, cheeks, and neck to check their temperature.

[blanket] - Sender pulls a blanket over a shivering receiver.

[soup] - Sender cooks a thin soup for receiver.

[service] - Sender cleans up for a receiver too weak to tidy their area.

[read] - Sender reads a book to a receiver who cannot sleep but is too weak to do anything.

[dab] - Sender wipes sweat from receiver's forehead. 

[wash] - Sender gives receiver a sponge bath. 

"You're burning up..."

"No, no, no— don't you even think about trying to get up. Lie back down, buster."

"Can I get you anything?"

"Don't look at me like that— you can have some when you feel better."

"Easy, easy! You'll make yourself sick again, eating/drinking that fast!"

"If you can't keep this down, I'm calling a doctor."

"Should I go outside and tell them to shut the fuck up?"

"Will you be okay if I leave for a little bit?"

"Aw, big baby... I'm teasing, I'm teasing!"

a small whumpee huddled in a tight space when having a panic attack or being overwhelmed

and a bigger caretaker who wants to comfort them somehow managing to squeeze themselves in too, making whumpee laugh because of how comically they had to fold their limbs

Whumpee curls up on the washroom floor, trapped in their own mind, unable to express the emotions they so desperately need to get out. A relapse was inevitable. The signs had been there for days for all to see. For Caretaker to see.

Their phone screen lights up. Caretaker.

“Read Me”, the message pops up in the notification window followed by three little dots compelling Whumpee to open the message.

“There are alcohol swabs in the drawer and clean tools in there as well if you need them. I put a phone charger in there to make sure you can call me or an ambulance if you need to. If you need help opening a pill bottle, let me know — I won’t ask questions. If money will help keep you alive or safer, let’s talk and we’ll work something out, I promise…”

The list goes on but Whumpee sets the phone down. The quicker they get this over with, the quicker they can give Caretaker a great big hug.

perhaps whumper was a medic and when whumpee meets Medic Caretaker they immediately panic and try to refuse any treatment/help but whumpee slowly begins to trust Medic Caretaker?

Hello! Thank you for the ask. I answered a similar ask before here but I have some newer stuffs for you too. Also I highly recommend checking out my #hospital whump tag for similar posts :D

- Medic Caretaker, piecing together that Whumpee has trauma related directly to the sight of medics, shows up to take care of Whumpee in casual clothes. They try their best to make the space Whumpee is staying at as home-like and different from a hospital as possible. They can also try to get Whumpee to receive care at home or at another place that feels safer for them. 

- Medic Caretaker makes sure to appear the least threatening as possible: being very transparent about what they are doing, what they are going to do, asking if Whumpee is alright with it. E.g. them telling Whumpee that they need to reach around Whumpee to get something, and asking if Whumpee is okay if they touch Whumpee. They only do the things they say they’re doing, and stop as soon as they know Whumpee is tense/uncomfortable. 

- Whumpee, at first, is terrified of Caretaker and thinks that they are lying to get Whumpee to lower their guard. They obey Caretaker at first because they don’t want to get punished. They try not to flinch when Caretaker touches them and agrees to what Caretaker says just so they don’t get hurt. 

- With time, however, Whumpee starts to relax more around Caretaker because Caretaker always keeps their words, and they are very perceptive of Whumpee’s comfort. They have stopped many times without Whumpee saying anything because Caretaker sees Whumpee’s discomfort. 

- The first few times Caretaker stops because Whumpee flinches, Whumpee hold their breath, awaiting a punishment for being bad. That never happens, and eventually Whumpee stops thinking that Caretaker is testing them. Slowly, they try to vocalise their needs, just to test the water. They are fearful at first, but they finally feel comfortable enough to do it frequently. 

- It helps that Caretaker is encouraging, and always smiles at them and says they are doing a good job to tell Caretaker what they are feeling. Whumpee realises that they are starved for that kind of positive reinforcement and can’t help but leaning into trusting Caretaker more. 

- A part of them is still terrified that it is just an act and Medic Caretaker will turn cruel as their old Whumper once Caretaker’s patience starts to wear thin. They learn to ignore it, maybe with some help from their friends, loved ones, and/or a therapist.

Whump Idea #8

Whumpee is considered a "one man army" of sorts. And so, when they're sent out to help save a country from harm they aren't left with anyone else. Caretaker happens to be an enemy medic that sees Whumpee fighting with grievous battle wounds and just not letting up.

After the war ends Caretaker invites Whumpee to their home. Caretaker then attempts to heal both their body and their mind. Whumpee just stays because Caretaker has made the best food they've had in their life.

a stranger caretaker who rescues an unconscious whumpee and wants to help them purely because of the goodness of their heart, but at the same time they feel intimidated by the whumpee and don't trust them, so they restrain them for when they wake up, just in case

and whumpee does indeed wake up, hurt, exhausted and terrified and the restraints certainly don't help them feel any safer, so now the caretaker has to convince them they have no ill intentions despite what they did
