Sans X Reader: Fever Dreams

Tired, cold, You cough and shake, over and over and over. Everything hurt, your throat was swollen, your eyes watery, and your nose plugged.
Your bed was nothing more then a nest of blankets and tissues. You felt weak, to weak, so very very tired and weak.
It had never been this bad before, you thought as you lay helplessly in bed, another round of excruciating coughing fits hitting you like a truck with no breaks.
God it felt like you were suffocating. Shivering, you tried to get up, you needed to eat something. But nothing happened, you had nearly sat up, before falling back into bed.
Breathing heavily, almost gasping for air. You knew. You had no other choice. You had to call for help. But who..? You couldn’t afford an ambulance. You had no insurance to cover it. You weren’t exactly rich, and your insurance plan didn’t cover hospital visits, sadly. You really needed a better company….
“Cough coUGH COUGGH!!?” Your chest heaved and you felt tears stream down your face. No other option. You started texting up people. Seeing if they were busy.
“heya, nah you know me i’m never busy, why whats up?”
Oh thank god. It was Sans. you two had met a month or so prior through his brother Papyrus. Who surprisingly didn’t reply to your texts unlike usual.
“Hi sans immmnot really feelling well.p can u comeover? I cant cook anyhthuing rnn”
It took awhile for a response. During that time you felt like your head was gonna explode. Staring at your screen made it thump harder and harder.
“uh, sure, i’ll be over in just a sec okay?”
You didn’t reply to sans, having already dropped your phone and leaned back against the headrest of your bed, your breathing funny and your head thumping.
When Sans arrived at your apartment he tried knocking on the door first, when he didn’t get a reply he just shortcut’d inside, having already been here at least once or twice before, for a dinner party you had thrown. He knew the layout well enough to get inside.
Upon seeing nobody in the living room or kitchen, he made his way towards the other areas of the house calling out to you.
“hello? uh bud? you there pal?”
When he got no response he started to feel anxious, until he found your bedroom door and opened it slowly. . . .
There you were fast asleep on your bed. Bundled up in blankets, a sea of tissues to your right.
He let out a relieved sigh, he’d been worried this was the wrong place, or that you had gotten hurt, or something.
Walking up to you, he felt your forehead, it was warm, way too warm for a normal human, Frisk was never this warm, even when sick. This was bad.
Sans moved quickly, grabbed cold towels and medicine, he placed a cool wet cloth to your forehead, and tried to shake you awake.
“Woah haha, this is funnkky” you said as you swam around your kingdom, seagulls swimming with tubas, snails eating sandwiches, and ofc, Sans the dolphin was right by your side to protect you.
Head of a sans, body of a dolphin, he was your trusted companion & knight in mermaidia. And you, were the queen.
“eeeeee, eeeeee, eeee, eeeee” Dolpsans cheerfully stated.
“I couldnt agree more!” You agreed “the trees do need to be pruned for apple picking.”
It starteyd to rain bath salts. Huh??
“This is no good, the apples hate bath salts, they’ll get up and walk away!!” You said discouraged.
“I agree m’lady! Its no good at all!” A deep saltury voice called out from beyound the depths.
Sealion Papyrus appeared, lower body of a sealion upper body of Papyrus, wearing his dastardly handsome Scarlet Sash, and amazingly awesomest sword, he swooned in causing all the other animals nearby to swoon aswell!
“eeee! eee! eeeee ee?” Dolphsans said in grateful surprise to see his majestic younger brother.
“Omg Seapyrus! What are you doing here!?” You asked confused…this was starting to get weird.
“Why I’m here to save the day! Ofc! Nyehhehehe!” He spoke with grander, as he posed dramatically to the sky. And summoned heaping spoonfuls of spaghetti from his finger tips, you watched confused and horrified as they went flying everywhere. Wtf was happening!?
“Apples love spaghetti! So they will stay for all the nutritious pasta!!”
“Yes of course it is Dolphsans!”
“-ey buddy wake up!” A scared voice shook over the land. Huh? Who was saying that? It wasn’t Seapyrus or Dolphsans. Maybe one of the seagulls? But why? And since when can they talk?
“wake up! your scaring me here buddy!” The voice said louder, Huh? Scaring? Scaring who?, you feel the ground shake, earthquake-
“hey hey, there bud, your okay, just breathe- your fine-“
You were shaking, pretty badly, whoever this was must’ve thought you were scared, nah, you were just freezing, you felt so so so cold. You started coughing, a lot, everything hurt so much-
You felt something cool touch your forehead, it felt nice, suddenly you weren’t as cold as before, and your shivering went down. Suddenly you feel a hand wipe away your tears… wait.. you were crying? No wonder the voice as trying to comfort you.
“hey shh, shh your okay, do you think you can take some medicine for me, ya?” The voice asked soothingly, like a dream….dreams, oh yeah that must’ve been some weird fever dream you had, where sans was a dolphin…. wait.. Hahaha you start laughing.
Sans looked at you quizzically as you started to laugh, he had no idea what was so funny about taking meds. Did you not think you were sick? No that cant be it, you said it yourself that you weren’t feeling well. So then what was so funny?
“Dolphsans… hahaha…. Cough cough! Hahaha!” You wheezed out.
What? Dolpsans? Pff wtf were you saying? He was so confused.
“pff dolphsans?” Sans questioned.
“Youuuurre, a dollphiinn, hahaha” you finally recognized it was sans in front of you, but that did little to stop the giggles coming from your mouth as you remembered your silly little dream.
Sans couldnt help but laugh at your antics, knowing your probably loopy from exhaustion sans decides to play along.
“heh yeah sure, I’m a dolphin, and this dolphins wondering if you could drink this drink i made for ya?” Sans had poured the spoon of medicine into a cup to make it easier for you to take, after your coughing and giggle fits made him think you’d spill the spoons liquids everywhere.
“Hehe, sureee, eee!” Your head felt like jelly, no your brain? Something felt like something, like you were swimming, haha swimming threw your kingdom like a mermaid….
Shockingly a cup was now infront of your face and you were sitting up, what!? How!? Magic man!! Sans laughed at your expression and you pouted slightly.
“it’s alright sweetheart, I’m not laughin atcha, you just look cutes’ all”
You stare at the skeleton, flushed and warm, you’re cute? He thinks you’re cute?
“you gonna drink this or..?”
Huh? Oh right the magic drink from the magic man dolphin skeleton thingy in front of you! How could you forget? You take a sip, it tastes terrible, you stare at Sans with a look of betrayal on your face. This wasn’t juice! Or anything else yummy and delicious you had hopped for!
“pfffff” Sans couldn’t help but laugh, your expressions were adorable, “its medicine, it’ll help you feel better” he tried to explain
“No yucky!” You protested.
“yes yucky, but you need to take it, please?” Sans used puppy dog eyes, it was super effective. You sigh and drink the rest of the cups small amount of liquid. Once your done the cups taken away from you and set down by the table.
“try to get some sleep, okay bucko? I’ll order you some food to eat when you wake up.”
“Okay, sannssy…” you yawned out, cuddling up into bed, but wait. There was one last problem. Sans turned to leave the room, but a weak hand grabbed his.
“…..mmmm…. Can… can you….can you stay?”
Sans seemed shocked by your reply. But he simply nods and sits down next to ya on the bed, that permanent smile ever strong on his face.
Gently petting your hair he whispers to you “goodnight, sweetheart, ill be here when you wake up.”
And thats all you needed to hear.
Before drifting back to sleep.

Hello thanks for reading, this was way longer then all my other ones! I had a TONE of fun writing the fever dream segment dolphsans was so funny to me for some reason i had to stop writing and make him, so um if your wondering what he looks like, then here ya go!
