The Good Samaritan by Johann Wilhelm Schirmer
Good Samaritan Passes Away Nearly Two Weeks After Severe Secondary Crash While Attempting to Help Overturned Tractor-Trailer.
SPRINGFIELD, MO - Dylan Hoyt, a beloved member of the local Springfield racing community, has tragically passed away after fighting for his life in the hospital for nearly two weeks.
On July 12, 2026, Dylan and his friends were returning from a street racing event when they pulled over on westbound I-44 near Miami, Oklahoma, to render aid to an overturned semi-truck.
While the group was assisting at the scene, a second tractor-trailer struck the crash area, sending debris flying and throwing Dylan roughly 50 feet into the surrounding terrain.
Dylan suffered extensive injuries, including collapsed lungs, broken ribs, a broken shoulder, and severe brain trauma. Despite undergoing brain surgery and receiving intensive life support care, he succumbed to his injuries. One of the semi-truck drivers involved also lost their life in the incident.
Remembered by his family as a passionate car enthusiast who had an upcoming job interview for a diesel mechanic position, Dylan's tragic loss has deeply impacted his loved ones and the surrounding community.
In the wake of the accident, local racing organizations and supporters have united to organize fundraisers and car shows in support of the Hoyt family during this difficult time.

Title: Parable of the Good Samaritan Artist: Jan Wijnants (Dutch, 1632-1684) Date: 1670 Genre: religious art (Christianity) Period: Dutch Golden Age Medium: oil on canvas Dimensions: 127 cm (50 in) high x 137 cm (53.9 in) wide Location: Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, Russia
This painting illustrates Luke 10:25-37, in which Jesus recounts the parable of the Samaritan who cared for a man beaten by robbers when a priest and a Levite would not.
Jan Wijnants was a specialist in landscapes. His adeptness at handling topography can be seen here in the vividness of the trees that overlook the Samaritan and the wounded man.

WE'RE SO BACK. Sorry for the hiatus, I got busy with daylife stuff and a little bit burnt out, but we ball! Hope I didn't get too rusty over my art break lol
Good Samaritan
A beggar on the side of the street
holds a sign for all to see.
Homeless veteran, anything helps
The sign reads.
Cars speed past him.
Pedestrians advert their eyes-
as if making contact will contract his
impossible situation to them.
He is ignored and forgotten
on the side of the road.
Weeks go by.
Snow piles all around,
the area is in a state of emergency.
All are recommended to bundle up
and stay indoors but where do you go
when your home has no doors?
No walls.
Just a shelter that may be at maximum capacity.
He has no coat.
His shoes are gone.
His feet are frozen.
Pleas ignored.
His stomach rumbles
as he recites silent prayers to the Lord.
Then a man stops his car.
He got out in the storm,
greeting the man with a warm smile
and kind eyes that reflect his heart.
He took his hand and helped him up.
Let him get warm in his car.
Got him checked out by a doctor.
Took him home-
let him get cleaned up
and gave him warm clothes.
The beggar didn't think he'd make it this far.
He stares at his reflection in the mirror.
His dirt and grime is gone.
Skin soft and smooth.
He feels like a person again.
He walked out of the bathroom
in clothes that were not his.
In a sizeable house with a kind stranger
who offered him salvation from the streets.
"Do you feel any better?" The Samaritan asks.
The beggar nodded and shifted uncomfortably.
"I don't know how I can ever repay you." He starts.
The Samaritan waves the sentence away.
"Survive." He said. "That's all we can do. Stay as long as you need, it's bad out there."
"Aren't you afraid I will rob you?" The beggar asks.
"Or plague your house with some disease?"
The Samaritan shook his head.
"I would rather get sick or be robbed of all my things, than stand by and watch someone freeze. Please, my new friend. Take all the time you need."
