Here is the rest of the 1st post.
A blog dedicated to cult films. Movie reviews for horror, science fiction, kung fu action, B-movies, low budget flicks, forgotten VHS, cinema classics
It has been quite the shit show of weeks—everyone is mentally tired, anxious, and a little on edge. Almost every bit of new media hurts to consume, and while it's probably the most damaging to our mental health, the "social" kind has taken a more prominent role in our lives. Seemingly, people have a lot of movie time on their hands but understandably have little motivation to put anything on. For whatever reason, Disney decided it was an excellent time to censor the classic butt-scene from Splash (1984). Shit's fucked. Despite living in a cultural bubble, I have been more of a bummer than usual, and my already slowed posting schedule has suffered a bit. Plus, even though I don't subscribe to Disney+ and probably never will, that CGI hair on Daryl Hannah's backside really affected me. Sincerely, I hope you are staying safe, healthy and have found a way to enjoy the good the world still has. Anyway, I will get back to posting regular articles by myself and others soon, including all the rambunctious positivity for which VideoReligion is known far and wide. In the meantime, here are some quick thoughts about movies I have seen for the first time in the last few weeks.
Quick reviews for The Cockface Killer Trilogy, The Lighthouse (2019), When Death Calls (2012), John Henry (2020), The Tattooist (2018)
Midsommar gave me a huge goregasm *_________* and flashbacks xD but really, I'm so happy..I wish I could talk with the director about goresthetics....hhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Will someone PLEASE tell me who the hell "Goregasm" is and how to contact them? These two images are MY digital artworks. What kind of lowlife thief thinks some shitty caption makes an image theirs? I take hours to make my edits. From reconstructing, colorizing, shadowing, highlighting, etc. I put a lot of work into these and for someone to not only remove my watermark but to put their own is DISGUSTING. This is complete bullshit. Both of these are all over instagram with "Goregasm" getting the credit for MY WORK. This is why I don't edit as much anymore or post here.
Maria Rubinke
"Maria Rubinke reminds us that catastrophe, taboo subjects, and destruction often find their way into the innocent world of toys. Children will bring to their sense of play a freedom that also encompasses brutality and death, thereby flying in the face of the norms ascribed to the toy by its maker. Children who crash planes and cars, or give their Barbie dolls a crew cut, are expressing a spontaneous and unpredictable creativity. Maria Rubinke employs the same ethic, challenging the expectations we bring to the grammar of toys. The artist wrestles from the toy its innocence, purity, and didactic function, in order to dive headlong and with a constant smile into taboo subjects such as existential estrangement and the subconscious displacements of desire."
