Highlights (and lowlights) from today’s @goruck #goruckstarcourse in #Indiannoplace . 26.47 miles. Not a great pace, but a finish is a finish. Couple things to note: I was SO BAD at getting the right picture at each waypoint that @goruckstarcourse was like “Dude, COME ON!”. So that cool headless statue? Wrong statue. That was probably the worst of it (I hope? Ha-Ha?). Also, note the exponential lack of enthusiasm @francisco.pascual.9469 displays in each passing frame. I kid, dude’s a trooper and a great teammate. 10 miler https://www.rucksonparade.com/ Suns Out Guns Out this past Saturday, adding my own Skys Out Thighs Out to the ruck action. Rebuilding full body ruck strength for #route66marathon (rucking the Half in November) and #goruckstarcourse #StarCourse26 again in 2021. Surprisingly, my abs are feeling it more than any other muscle group after a few months away from distance rucking and general workouts! Started Saturday morning welll hydrated at 8 AM with overcast skys and trees along the Katy Trail providing lots of shade to keep the summer temp down. You can see my heart rate increaseing and pace decreasing near the end, though. Pushed knee strength, chafing tolerance, and public indecency to the limit wearing nothing but Merrell boots, Injinji toe socks, Semper Silkies, GORUCK Rucker, and a tank that became a wet neck cooling rag before the end. And… That's a wrap. In the end we ended up going about an extra mile, but that's OK. The point is to get strong. And as we always tell Duncan, hard things make you better. We said that a number of times during this ruck today. We lost Moira at the halfway point, but figured she still got her 5K patch, so will order that for her. Next stop, Duncan's high school: Columbus Whetstone HS. We had to make a stop here, because the school has been awesome for him as he transitioned out of his all autism school to a typical high school. He's been on the swim team, he's gotten honor roll every term he's been at school, and this place has just been fantastic.
