Dragons true and false
“Dragons old and young, true and false, bright and dark. And you. A small man with a big shadow, snarling in the midst of all.”
So, to figure out who all the dragons are, find what possible dragons Tyrion has an association with. He met Master Aemon, the old dragon; he knows the false dragon, Young Griff, whom I also consider the dark dragon (as in black dragon = Blackfyre and mayhaps of a black heart; we’ll have yet to see, I just somewhat assumed that he’d have an antagonistic role at that point); he’s a friend of the true dragon, Jon Snow; at this point in the book, he’s on his way to the bright dragon, Daenerys (I assume she’s the bright dragon because a) she carries the Targaryen legacy, as Jon doesn’t know he’s a Targ at this point, so he’s in the dark; therefore, brightness = knowledge, awareness; b) she stepped into fire and became the Unburnt, therefore the brightness.. I need to think more about this, though, and c) I have an entire theory (I’ll write it down someday, hopefully) about Jon and Dany being the Ice and Fire, therefore dark doesn’t necessarily have to have negative connotations here but could rather be a literal depiction of Jon and bright of Dany, of their looks and natures and origins, as in yin/yang). We could also hypothesise that the plural here means that there are more dragons than just one in each category. Or that there will be. The old and young could be the dead and the alive ones (Tyrion has a connection with both), the true and false could be Targaryens (Jon, Daenerys) and Blackfyres (Young Griff + if there are more), and bright and dark could be any of them, depending on their future decisions.
I’ll elaborate on this, just jotting down some quick thoughts...
