JON SNOW // THE WHITE WOLF
the gift was strong in snow, but the youth was untaught, still fighting his nature when he should have gloried in it.
Why do you think George RR Martin decided to introduce the Azor Ahai /the prince that was promised prophecy after Daenerys hatched Her Dragons? Why a Clash of Kings book? What do you think?
Hey anon,
There are a few clues to the Prince that Was Promised prophecy in Dany’s AGOT chapters, some of them pretty obvious and that is why GRRM probably didn’t want to introduce the prophecy too early. If we had known ahead of time, we would have instantly put the clues together.
If you introduce the theory afterward readers are going to look for future clues to try and decipher who the prophecy is in reference to. It’s the same thing with the Azor Ahai prophecy, which I think is probably just another part of the PTWP prophecy and the Stallion that Mounts the World prophecy. All these have a lot in common.
Anyhow, with the AAR prophecy he also introduced a red herring, Stannis Baratheon, and kept that going for a while. It was Maester Aemon that finally pointed out that Stannis sword was a fake and later his revelation that Dany could be the PTWP. All these prophecies and clues pointing in multiple directions are just a way of muddying the waters and that became a lot easier after AGOT.
In the end, it’ll most likely a combination of Jon and Dany.
Side note: I do find it fascinating that Cersei’s prophecy is unraveling just as Maggy predicted. Mostly due to the fact that Cersei is actively engaging the prophecy (as Stannis does as well) while Jon and Dany are almost completely oblivious to it. Jon knows more about it than Dany does but he’s not engaging the prophecy.

Maybe we’ll meet again.
Daenerys: Been a bad bitch way before any cash came. I'm established, hundred carats on my name, run the atlas, I'm a natural, I'm alright-
Jon: I'm a savage, I'm a asshole, I'm a king.
So darkness I became.
“Kill the Boy... and let the MAN be born”
