"His Last Bow" Series Finale
Great job, Sam!!! (x)
Run club tonight! We did a group run and it ended up being super enjoyable!! The weather was looking really awful on my drive over - cold, windy, and rainy. I was surprised that many people showed up! 🏃🏼♀️ But once we got started, it wasn't raining anymore! It was still a bit of a chilly start, but we all warmed up quickly enough. We did a nice loop around town, and we all stuck together the whole time and just chatted and enjoyed each other's company. It was a really nice group run 😁 I'm so pumped tomorrow is the last work day of the week!! And scott and I have our first reception venue tours, so I'm very excited to get that started!! 💕 Hope everyone is having good weeks!!
Wow! What a morning! I have felt so many emotions in such a short space of time… I’m bloody knackered! Anxiety was kicking my butt this morning. I forced down some brekkie and left in good time. The crowds were crazy though, so many people in such a small area, so I had to keep taking a few minutes to find a quiet spot to breathe which I feel so foolish for 🙈 My heart was pounding as I took my starting place (skilfully hopped over the fence to avoid having to make my way through the masses), but thankfully I was able to make some small talk with other runners before the 9:30 horn sounded. Then my earbuds went in as I tried to focus purely on myself.
The race itself was a mixture of everything! Seeing each km marked out was encouraging as I got closer to the finish, but daunting at the beginning when each km seemed so far 😂 Running is definitely a mental game though as my legs kept moving and I ran the entire thing despite having doubts a mere 2k in! I had a lot of thoughts where I was comparing myself to others around me, but I tried to focus on my own race because that was the only thing that mattered. The atmosphere was fantastic, I smiled hard at some of the signs and the bands that were playing, I high fived little ones, screamed at my best friends and cheered out loud when the finish line was in sight! Embarrassingly I shed a few tears when I finished, and not because I was happy either… I felt dejected when I saw the time as I passed; around 56 minutes. It wasn’t ‘good enough’ and despite achieving this finish that I have been working toward for ages, and being part of something so brilliant, I found I had a few tears. So it’s a bittersweet achievement to realise I ran faster than that because I didn’t cross the start line immediately; a #pb of 54:28! Don’t get me wrong; I am exceptionally proud of myself and I think I have done brilliantly, but I know that I cared far too much about a number than an amazing experience and that’s a bit annoying ☹️ Nevertheless, this was a fantastic experience and I will definitely be signing up again next year. I wonder if I have it in me to run the Bristol Half?!… #bristol10k #greatrun #runnersofinstagram

Fun Fact : "The original title for this series was Hellraiser, but it was changed prior to publication so as to not be confused with the 1988 Clive Barker horror film, Hellraiser."
