Michigan is a significant destination for rockhounds and gemstone collectors due to its wide variety of minerals, fossils, and rare stones. The state's diverse geological history, influenced by ancient volcanic activity, glacial movements, and the presence of the Great Lakes, has created an environment rich in collectible geological specimens. 

Notable finds include Petoskey stones along Lake Michigan and the rare Chlorastrolite, also known as Greenstone, found on Isle Royale. Other distinctive materials, such as the UV-reactive Yooperlite, the colorful Leland Blue Stone, and ancient glacial Pudding Stones, are also present. Additionally, minerals like Jaspilite and Thomsonite can be found throughout the state.

There are a few semi-precious stones that I like to work with in my practice. I usually stick to river rocks and raw crystals. MOSS AGATE is definitely one of my favorites as a plant person!
