Something about Tom’s first real statement to Greg being “I’ve got my eye on you” (in the script book he just says that, I just watched the clip and he says “eyes on the prize” before that but I digress) and the final episode being “With Open Eyes”.

Tom is looking at Greg when he says “eyes on the prize”. He keeps his eye on him through the whole show. They have their eyes on each other at the end, their eyes are wide open when it comes to each others’ characters and their relationship. They see each other. Tom sees Greg for all the good and bad and he still sees Greg as the most prized person in the world.

Also shoutout to Matthew Macfadyen for taking the basic ‘I’ve got my eye on you’ and turning it into a campy play on ‘I’ and ‘eye’ rhyming, Tom was trying so hard to flirt and he totally flopped but that’s okay <3
