it  had  been  too  fucking  close.     jason’s  seen  more  of  cindy’s  blood  in  the  last  36  hours  than  he  ever  cares  to  see  again,     and  it’s  downright  sad  that  it’s  something  he’s  had  to  grow  accustomed  to   —   the  immediacy  of  oncoming  death  &  the  ways  by  which  to  push  it  back.     he’s  the  world’s  leading  expert  by  now,     intentional  or  no.

teasing  make  it  less  real,     makes  the  emotions  less  potent,     and  jason  lets  himself  feel  some  modicum  of  success  in  the  attempt  to  disguise  just  how  much  the  close  call  had  unnerved  him.          “ you’re  a  stubborn  thing,     i’ll  give  y’  that.     i  had  it  pegged  there’d  still  be  another  24  hours  before  you  swam  back  around. ”
